He passed away May 11, 1994, in Provo, Utah. He married Leah Mary Clarke July 6, 1942, in the Logan Temple. Don is survived by his beloved wife, Leah Mary; his children: Lowell and Carole West, Mrs. LcGrand (Judy) Jackman, Mrs. Keith (Jennilyn) Mauerman, Don Jr. and Nancy Parker, Mrs. Steve (Beverly) Chapman, Chap-man, Mrs. Bob (Barbara) Williams, Ken and Laurie Parker, Mrs. Ballard (Leahmary) Pead, Davis and Diane Parker, Mrs. David (Amelia) Irwin; his 64 grandchildren and 13 greatgrandchildren. great-grandchildren. Daddy is remembered and loved for his many years of service to the Lord. He loved to do his genealogy work and has organized quite an extensive ex-tensive family history. Daddy is best known for his delicious deli-cious candies, which have delighted people across the west for many years. Burial was in the Orem City Cemetery, with military rites conducted con-ducted by VFW District 4. Gordon E. Nelson Gordon Eugene Nelson, 70, of Provo, died Tuesday, May 11, 1994, at a Provo hospital. He was born January 1, 1924, in Salt Lake City, Utah, a son of Joseph A. and Jean Snow Moore Nelson. He married Katheryn Janet Bushman August 31, 1949, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He grew up in Southern California. Ho came back to Salt Lake City for high school. He was a graduate of South High. He was drafted and served in Europe with the Army during World War II. He was employed in sales training and management and lived and traveled throughout the United States. . He was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served in the Northern States Mission from 1946-48. He had , served as a bishop twice and in several stake high councils. He served as a counselor to two Florida Tampa Mission presidents and was a Provo Temple ordinance worker. He was serving with his wife in the Australia Melbourne Mission from 1992-93 when he became ill. Survivors include his wife, Katheryn, of Provo; two sons and two daughters: Joseph and Theresa Nelson, Nel-son, Laguna Niguel, Calif.; Craig and Carla Nelson, Fallbrook,Calif.;Janet and Skip Soldan, Provo; Michelle and Mitch Chronister, Alcmoda, Calif.; fifteen grandchildren; and a sister, Ruth and Dean Hanson, Parma, Idaho. . Services were to bo announced an-nounced by Nelson Funeral Homo, Logan. o manes Charles Clyde DeGraff Charles Clyde DeGraff, 69, passed away on Monday, May 10, 1994, at his homo in Orem. He was born April 11, 1925, in HeberCity, Utah, son of Charles and Nellie Clyde DeGraff. He married Bonnie Mae Zirker November 21, 1951, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Mr. DeGraff served in the Navy during World War II. After completing complet-ing an LDS mission in the Northeastern North-eastern States, he graduated from Brigham Young University. He workodin the LDS Church Education Systems, and was division coordinator coor-dinator of the Pacific Northwest Inland In-land Division of Serminaries and Institutes. In-stitutes. He later served as the area coordinator for the seminaries and institutes in Houston, Texas. As a gifted teacher, he was an inspiration to many. Active in the Church, he served as a high councilor, in the bishopric, and as a Sunday School teacher. Survivors include his wife of Orem; a son and three daughters: Brent Clyde DeGraff, Karla Leigh DeGraff, Kristine DeGraff-Kicne, Paula Lyn DoGraff-Call; nine grandchildren; two brothers and one sister: Dale De-Graff, De-Graff, Jay W. DeGraff, and Elaine Walker. Funeral services, under the direction direc-tion of Walker Sanderson Funeral Home of Orem, were held Saturday, May 14, in the Lakeview 6th Ward Chapel. Stanger Ronald Ray Stanger, 60, of Provo, died Thursday, May 12, 1994, at his home in Provo. He was born February 15, 1934, in Butte, Montana, a son of Davis B. and Viola Jensen Stanger. He married Viva Brown October 4, 1955, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Ron was educated in the Grants Pass, Oregon schools and attended the University of Oregon for one year. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict. He transferred to Brigham Young University and graduated with a degree in political science. Ron then attended the University of Utah Law School, where ho received his law degree. In 1961, he joined the law firm of Taylor and Stanger in Spanish Fork, where he worked until 1969. He then went to work as a corporate attorney in Scottsdale, Arizona, and Beverly Hills, California, until he returned to Provo in 1970, where ho opened his own law practice. In addition to Ron's private practice, prac-tice, he has taught classes and lectured lec-tured at both Utah Valley Community Com-munity College and BYU. He has worked in the Utah County Attorney's office and served as Judge Pro Tern. Ron was appointed by the governor to serve on the Utah State Building Board, where he was instrumental in-strumental in building the Utah Valley Val-ley Community College in Orem and the Juvenile Court facility at Ironton. He was a member of the LDS Church and served in many capacities, including stake Young Men's president and a counselor in the stake Sunday School. Ron's hobbies hob-bies include all sports. Ho coached baseball and basketball for community com-munity teams and was a coach for Little League football, basketball, and baseball. He was also an avid golfer. Survivors include his wifoof Provo; four sons and one daughter: Ronald Allen Stanger, Orem; David Craig Stanger, Michael Ray Stanger, and Robert B. Stanger, all of Provo; Diane S. Fowles, West Valley City; his parents, of Grants Pass, Oregon; 11 grandchildren; five brothers and onO sister: Davis J. Stanger and Phillip Stanger, both of Grants Pass, Oregon; Howard W. Stanger, Warner Robins, Georgia; Lynn Stanger, Med-ford, Med-ford, Oregon; Norma Shipp, Daley City, Calif.; George Stanger, San Francisco, Calif. Burial was in the Provo City Cemetery. i o Shannon O'Neill Shannon Oonagh Elizabeth O'Neill, O'-Neill, 2, infant daughter of Kim and Allison O'Neill of Orem, returned to her Father in Heaven on Wednesday, 11 May, 1994. Shannon was born 23 March, 1992, in Waveny Hospital, Ballymena, County Antrim, Northern North-ern Ireland. During her short life, Shannon had a profound effect on a large number of people. Born wth a variety of physical and developmental developmen-tal challenges, Shannon demonstrated enormous strength of spirit in dealing with the extreme pain and other difficulties that plagued her the entire time she spent on this earth. All who came in contact with her will always remember her beauty and grace. Shannon is survived by her. parents; her sister, Anu Kari Louise, of Orem; her maternal grandparents, Robert and Annie Nesbitt; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins in Northern North-ern Ireland. She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents. Francis (Frank) Walker Bishop Francis (Frank) Walker Bishop, 77, died May 10, 1994, at his home in Springville, Utah, surrounded by loved ones. He was born May 29, 1916, in Delta, Utah, to John Avery and Lemira L. Walker Bishop. He married mar-ried Cleo Thorpe on August 25, 1943. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple. He is survived by his beloved wife of 50 years, Cleo Thorpe Bishop; and eight children, including Clark T. Bishop (Nora Holdaway), Orem; 28 grandchildren; a brother and two sisters. Elise Orena Merrill Hartley Elise O. Merrill Hartley, 57, of American Fork, died May 11, 1994,in Provo, Utah. She was born April 9, 1937, in Price, Utah, to Robert Warren and Rhoda Ann Allred Merrill. She married mar-ried Britt Hartley March 7, 1973. She is survived byher husband; two sons and four daughters; 12 grandchildren; and six sisters, including in-cluding Nerine Phoenix of Orem. Olive Hogan Smith, 87, our belovd mother and grandmother, passed away May 12, 1994. She was born February 11 1907, in Centeville, Utah, to Donald and Margaret Mar-garet Ann Duncan Hogan. She married mar-ried John LaVel Smith in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on June 23, 1926. He preceded her in death on November Novem-ber 18, 1975. Olive was a former resident of Sandy, Orem, Rcxburg, and Midvale. Her survivors are her six children; 51 grandchildren; 117 great-grandchildren; ten brothers and sisters. She was born on March 7, 1922, to Ezra and Elthear Jex Warner in Spanish Fork, Utah. She married Henry D. Harwood on June 27, 1941, in the Salt Lake LDS temple. She is survived by her husband, Henry; two sons and two daughters, including Wayne and Helen Harwood of Orem; 14 grandchildren; three sisters and two brothers. Barbara West Lindquist On Mother's Day, May 8, 1994, Barbara West Lindquist, 52, died at a hospital in Bend, Oregon. She was born July 26, 1941, in South Gate, California, a daughter of Lloyd R. and Helen Franz West. She married William G. Lindquist February 27, 1957, in Downey, California. She devoted her life to youth, serving serv-ing as a Cub Scout leader. She was educated in business and worked as office m anager in construction construc-tion companies. She loved children, nature, and reading. She is survived by her husband of Orem; children: Kris Lindquist, Orem, Utah; Jacque Rasmussen, Wichita, Kansas; Kyle Lindquist, Rex Lindquist, and Nicky Lindquist, all of Las Vegas; Lori Johnson and Lisa Lindquist, Bend, Oregon; ten grandchildren; a brother, David West, Madison, Wisconsin. Services were May 13, 1994, at the Olpin Family Mortuary in Pleasant Grove. Burial was in the Pleasant Grove City Cemetery. Mary Jean Rasmussen Wise Mary Jean Hansen Rasmussen Wise, age 70, formerly of Orem, died May 10, 1994, in Kanab, Utah. She was born May 23, 1923, in Salt Lake City, Utah, the daughter of Jesse B. and Irene Standing Hansen. She married Fred Rasmussen on January 25, 1941, in Salt Lake City, Utah. He died September 13, 1984. She married Donald Wise on April 6, 1989, in the St. George LDS Temple. Jean was an active member of the LDS Church and served a one-year mission at the Genealogical Center at the church headquarters. She has served as Relief Society President and teacher in both the Primary and Sunday School for many years. She donated one and one-half years as a pink lady at the LDS Hospital. Jean enjoyed bowling and traveled extensively exten-sively with her husband, Don, during the last few years. Surviving family members include her husband of Kanab, Utah; two daughters: Mrs. Jerry (Marilyn) Cox of Orem; Mrs. Ronald (Joanne) Thompson of Lehi, Utah; two sons: Ronald and Sylvia Rasmussen of Orem, and Roger and Trade Rasmussen Rasmus-sen of Carlin, Nevada; two stepsons: Michael Wise of Salt Lake City; John and Pamela Wise of Vancouver, Wash.; two stepdaughters: Mrs. James (Bonnie) Kilpatrick of Sandy, Utah; Mrs. David (Edith) Burton of Kayesville, Utah; 16 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; 14 step-grandchildren; step-grandchildren; 16 step-great-grandchildren; five brothers: Jack Hansen and Warren Hansen, both of Salt Lake City; Wilford Hansen of Arizona; Bud Hansen of Kearns, Utah; Bob Hansen of Duchesne, Utah; Thayne Hansen of Moroni, Utah. Butler Glen Shell Butler, 65, of Salem, died Saturday, May 14, 1994, at home of natural causes. He was born on November 21, 1928, in Spanish Fork, the son of William Avery Butler and Sarah Shell Butler. He married Leola Hunt on May 22, 1954, in Waterflow, New Mexico. . He attended Spanish Fork Schools and graduated from Utah Valley State College as an Armature Winder. He retired from Geneva with 45 years of service. He served in the Korean War as a sergeant in the U.S. Army and a member of the American Legion. At the time of his death, he was employed by H.E. Davis. He was a member of the LDS Church. He lived to serve others. He loved the outdoors, out-doors, camping, hunting, fishing, and his garden. Survivors include his wife of Salem; two daughters and one son: Mrs. Randy (AnnaJean) Lindsay, Spanish Fork; Mrs. Roger (Mary Lou) Warner, Castle Dale; Mr. Gordon and Tammy Butler, Salem; and grandchildren: Nellie, Malynda, Brandon, Shauna, Misty, Jill, Katie, Bethany, and Jessie; one brother and one sister; Mrs. Dean (Betty) Betts, Spanish Fork; Mrs. Fred and Ida Kay Butler, Chester, Utah; stepfather, Hal Rasmussen, Spanish Fork; step brother: Ervin Rasmussen, Willard; and step-sister: Mrs. Leon (Betty Jean) Skinner, Tooele. He was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters. Mary Marie Molnar Manwaring Mary Marie Molnar Manwaring, age 85, traded time for eternity on May 14, 1994, in Provo, Utah, after a courageousabattle with Lou Gehrig's disease. She was born April 19, 1909, in Treskow, Pennsylvania, to Louis and Martina Jozsa Molnar. Her parents died in the flu epidemic in 1919, leaving five children as orphans. or-phans. She and two sisters came to ' Utah to live with an uncle and an aunt, Cyprian and Mary Jozsa. Mary graduated from Provo High School in 1929. That summer, she meet Dee Manwaring while cooking for men at a gilsonite mine in eastern Utah. They were married in the Salt Lake Temple on October 2, 1929. He preceded her in death in 1991. Mary's most prized possessions were her family. Her children are Marie (Jim) Campbell, Provo; Elaine (Lowell) Roberts, Roosevelt; Ila (Brent) Morrill, Manhattan, Kansas; Eugene (Marilyn) Manwaring, Centerville, Utah; Wayne (Christine) Manwaring, Orem. Mary has 24 grandchildren and 49 great-grandchildren. She is survived by one sister, Helen Riddel, of Mesa, Arizona, and brothers: Charles (Grace) Josie, Murray, Utah; Frank (Geri) Josie, Provo, Utah; and a brother-in-law, Grant Harris, of Alpine. Al-pine. Mary was a convert to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served faithfully in the Primary organization for 39 years. She loved children and they loved her. She was a stake Laurel leader and a devoted visiting teacher for 64 years. She served in the Provo Temple and spent many years searching out her ancestors. ances-tors.
