Fishing Season To Open Soon By Karen Green Conservation Officer On May 28, 1983, the general fishing season opens allowing anglers a greater variety of waters to sample. Here are a few helpful hints for having a fun and legal opener: 1. Be sure to purchase a 1983 fishing license. For adults the license is $10.50 and a juvenile license is $4.50. A license is required for anyone 12 years or older fishing any water in Utah 2. Be sure to purchase a Trout Stamp. The stamp is required for those anglers fishing for or found in possession of trout. Remember that during opening weekend, only six trout are allowed in possession. Juveniles under 12 only three trout. After opening weekend the limit goes to eight trout for licenses anglers and four trout for those under 12 years. 4. Be sure to only use one pole per fisherperson and stay within ten feet of the pole when the line is in the water. Remember that having children under six years old does not allow you to use two or more poles. 5. Use of corn as bait or possession of it while fishing is illegal. . 6. Remember that all waters will be high on opening weekend. Be sure to keep a radio in camp for weather updates, and to keep kids away from streams and lakes. Be sure to take your first aid and emergency equipment (shovel, chains, etc.). 7.
