Lee Aston To Study Nursing At Ricks College Lee Scott Aston is among 62 students that have been selected from a field of more than 150 applicants for the Ricks College two-year nursing program. Training begins this fall and upon completion com-pletion he will graduate with an Associate Degree in Nursing. . - . . -s CraigAdams dancer Kimball Scholarship Craig Adams of Mountain View High School is one of 24 outstanding high school seniors from across the United States to be awarded a prestigious four-year Spencer W. Kimball Scholarship to Brigham Young University, President Jeffrey R. Holland announced. , Each scholarship is for a minimum of $1,900 per year for four years but may be as much as $2,900 . per year, depending upon the need of the recipient, President Holland said. The scholarships bear the name of the LDS Church president and are the top scholarships offered byBYU. More than 400 seniors applied for the scholarships, arid each winner had a grade point average of at least 3.94 and a composite American College Test (ACT) score of 31 or higher. The 12 young men and 12 young women scholarship winners were ranked in the 99th percentile on the ACT. They were chosen on the basis of superior scholarship, leadership ability, high moral character and service to school, community and church. , susc Exercises f.lny 28 Cedar City - The second largest graduating class in Southern Utah State College history will be honored at commencement exercises May 29. Bachelors degrees will be awarded, to 305 graduates in ceremonies scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. on the upper campus quadrangle: The largest graduating class-306 class-306 students-received diplomas in 1973 according to Ward S. Robb, SUS Registrar. In addition to the bachelors degrees, another 24 students will receive masters degrees through the SUSCUtah State University Masters Program in Education. Spencer F. Eccles, chief executive for First Security Bank, will deliver the commencement address and will receive an honorary doctoral degree from SUSC. A second honorary degree will be conferred upon Dr. R. Gaurth Hansen, provost and distinguished professor of nutrition, food sciences and biochemistry at Utah State University. Also addressing the SUSC graduates will be Gina Marie Hall, an elementary education major with a 3.97 grade point average, SUSC's 1981-82 valedictorian. Mrs. Hall, from St. George, is the distinguished scholar from the SUSC School of Education. Anne Hatch, Cedar City, will give the commencement invocation. She and Melaney Shurtz Hardy, LaVerkin, are distinguished scholars from the SUSC School of Arts and Letters. Deloy Bateman, Colorado City, Arizona, the distinguished scholar from the SUSC School of Business, Technology and Communication, will give the benediction. He will receive a BA in industrial arts at commencement; Miss Hatch and Mrs. Hardy will both graduate with a BA in English.
