Show Orem-Geneva Times i Receive Five girls from Girl Scout Cadette Troop No. 218 were recently honored at a banquet given by the Bountiful Elks Lodge. They are among the first seven girls in the Utah Girl Scout Council to receive the new Girl Scout awards for Cadette and Senior girls. Their leaders are Doreen Radford and Marilyn Lewis. The girls earning the Silver Challenge are Holley Jacob, April Juber, Julie Lewis, Anne Martin, and Tanya Radford. HOLLEY JACOB Holley is the daughter of David and Jean Jacob of Orem. She is an eighth .grader at Lakeridge Junior High. Her hobbies are horseback riding and ballet and she is presently in the Youth Ballet which is currently presenting Copellia. For her Silver Challenge she passed out vote fliers to her precinct and went to the poll to babysit. This summer she will participate in a Girl Scout Wider Opportunity called Dixie Doodle where she will fly to Savannah, Georgia, the birthplace of Girl , Scouting in the United States, and then will tour to Disney world, Florida. APRIL JUBER April is the daughter of Ken and Alesia Juber of Orem. She is an eighth grader at Orem Junior High. Her hobbies are music, camping, and 4-H. For her Silver Challenge she was the cookie chairman for her troop. She was responsible for 280 cases of cookies and the collection of the money. April will par-1 par-1 ticipate in the Tall Ships Opportunity this summer' off the coast of Washington where she will be part of the crew of . a 101 foot schooner, Adventuress. JULIE LEWIS Julie is the daughter of Roderic and Marilyn Lewis of Orem. She is an eighth grader at Lakeridge Junior High. Her hobbies are reading, music, and camping. Last summer she represented her troop at a special leadership camp at the Girl Scout Camp, Cloud Rim. For her Silver Challenge she presented the new Cadette program to eleven Orem Junior troops and the Orem leaders. Julie will also participate in the Tall Ships Opportunity aboard the Adventuress in July. ANNE MARTIN Anne's parents are John A. and Elizabeth Nist of Orem. Anne is an eighth grader at Orem Junior High with a 3.98 average. Anne's hobbies are skiing, camping, and music. For her Silver Challenge she helped a Junior Leader for four months and did some recruitment in Aspen School, Anne will also participate in Tall Ships this summer. TANYA RADFORD Tanya is the daughter of Gordon and Doreen, Radford of Orem. She is an eighth grader at Lakeridge Junior High. Her hobbies are swimming, swim-ming, skiing, reading, music and camping. Tanya also participated in the Leadership Camp at Cloud Rim. For her Silver Challenge she did a rive wm sciits Jeri Hovarth Awarded Sal-Ute Scholarship . Sal-Ute Chapter mi Professional Secretaries International has awarded a $1,000 scholarship to Jeri Howarth, an executive secretary major at Utah Technical College at Provo-Orem. Ten colleges and universities in the state of Utah were asked to select a student to be considered for the scholarship. Applicants were given a test in which they utilized their secretarial skills. She is presently working at the LDS Church Offices in Salt Lake City as a participant in the cooperative education program at Utah Tech.
