The win over the Bulldogs started out by having 3rd singles Doug Jensen demolish his opponent 6-0, 6-0. in a match that lasted less than thirty minutes. Dave Trane followed suite with a 6-2, 6-2 win over Chase Parker. The match was 2-0 2-0 now for Mountain View. 1st singles Russ Rowley lost a close one and so did 2nd doubles. The score now 2-2. It was all up to 1st doubles who went all out in the third set with Phil Broderick leading the way with a series of overheads and volleys. Provo was tied with the Bruins for first place and the match Friday was the decider for sole possession of first. Coach Braithwaite exclaims, "We did it. We accomplished ac-complished the goal of beating Provo. It was a great match up" 1st singles Russ Rowley lost to S. Covey 6- 3, 6-3. 2nd singles Trane defeated Parker, 6-2, 6-2. 3rd singles Dave Chase Doug uins Defeat Tigers Mountain View scored eight runs in the first four innings and then held on to defeat the Orem Tigers 9-3 in the last region game for both teams. Gary Cooper, who is batting over 500 on the year led the Bruins with 3 for 4 performance from the plate. Matt Glauser who again pitched an excellent game for the Bruins went all 7 innings hut was relieved by Eric McCallister who pitched the last out. Coach Shellenberger is pleased with the way his team is playing right now. The win locked up a second place finish for the Bruins and an Automatic berth in the State tournament. The state tournament wili be held May 11th through the 16th. The Bruins also defeated the Provo High Bulldogs on Tuesday afternoon. Nursing Program To Begin Again SALT LAKE CITY -A pilot education program aimed at easing Utah's nursing shortage by qualifying licensed practical nurses to become registered, nurses has been success fully completed by 36 Intermountain Health Care nurses; it was announced an-nounced by Verla B. Collins, IHC's director of nursing and education. "Because of the success of the first group of students, a second nurse advancement program will begin in June," reported Dr. Collins. Honored LAIE, Hawaii-Senior Kim Garrett of Provo, was selected as the most valuable player on the BYU-Hawaii Campus basketball team for the second straight year. Garrett, the team's co-captain during his junior and senior years, many other athletes at BYU-Hawaii during the . school's first annual intercollegiate inter-collegiate and physical education banquet held recently on the campus.
