December, the twelfth month of the year, is the special month to everyone with preparations for Christmas and the holidays. But to some 550 Civil Air Patrol members in the Utah wing, it is the month they celebrate the Civil Air Patrol anniversary. It is 32 years old. Civil Air Patrol was founded Dec. 1, 1941, by light aviation enthusiasts and private pilots under the pressure of wartime need. CAP won fame during World War II for its costal patrol and other Civil Defense activities. Today the organization conducts con-ducts Air Force-authorized air searcli and rescue missions; assists as-sists with relief activities in periods of disaster; cooperates with civil defense agencies; and conducts a comprehensive program pro-gram of aerospace education and youth motivation. Mr. Dorado left the Stuttgardt Ballet to enter military service in France for a year, then joined La Troupe de l'Opera de Nice as a principal dancer, performing perform-ing Albercht in "Giselle" and the Kastchei in "Firebird." Mr. Dorado was among the more than 100 outstanding dancers dan-cers from all over the world who competed at the International Internatio-nal Ballet Competition last June in Moscow. As a soloist with the Ballets de Roland Petit this last year, he premiered the modern ballet "Aragon" asaccompaniedbyPink Floyd (on stage). Mr. Dorado, 23, was born in Paris, France, is married and the father of a baby daughter. His wife Martine, 20, will also be dancing with Ballet West as a member of the corps de ballet. The Utah Wing has nineteen units, flights and squadrons, from St. George in the south to Cache Valley in the north. Wing headquarters, head-quarters, CAP, are at Ft. Douglas, Doug-las, Salt Lake City. Wing commander com-mander is Col. Larry Miller. Civil Air Patrol was chartered in its present form in 1946 by Act of Congress and made a civilian auxiliary . of the U.S. Air Force in 1948. Mr. Dorado made his debut with the company on their recent Mid-West Mid-West tour, and will perform in Salt Lake City as a featured soloist in 'The Nutcracker" during dur-ing its scheduled run ofDecember 21-31, 1973.
