Show UPIV Holds Christmas Dinner Amid Christmas decoration, a beautifully decorated tree, and the warmth of a burning log in the fireplace, the Orem Federation Federa-tion of the Business and Professional Profes-sional Women's Club met fur their annual Christmas dinner Wanda Hansey andDorothyStrat-ton. andDorothyStrat-ton. President May Morgan conducted con-ducted the meeting. A group from the Orem High School A cappella Choir, directed by Ed Sandgren presented the program for the evening. Mr. Sandgren was introduced by Mrs. Hansey. Wendy Brown is the choir accompanist, and Wally Wilson introduced their numbers. Willy Smith gave a tribute to a recently deceased member Marcelle Skinner. Door prize winners were Evelyn Terry, Virginia Poulsen and Margaret Mitchell. Senator Moss To Speak At BYU U.S. Senator Frank E. Moss of Utah will discuss "Energy CrisisFifty Miles an Hour in Utah'.'" at 4 p.m. in the Wilkinson Wil-kinson Center Ballroom at Bri-gham Bri-gham Young University on Dec. 7. His lecture will be part of the Inquiry Series sponsored by the Student Academics Office and the Young Democrats. A graduate of Utah elementary schools, a B.A. from the University Uni-versity of Utah with high honors, and a Juris Doctor with honors at George Washington University Law School, Senator Moss has served numerous positions in government and local organizations. organiz-ations. After serving as colonel in the U.S. Air Force Reserve, city judge in Salt Lake City, and country attorney inSaltLake County, he was elected to his first term in the U,S. Senate in November of 1958. Since then he has been re-elected to the Senate threes times. Senator Moss was named by a unanimous vote the Secretary of the Democratic Demo-cratic Conference, the number three leadership position in the U.S. Senate. This election places pla-ces Senator Moss on the Steering' Steer-ing' Committee and the Democratic Demo-cratic Policy Committee. Signetics Official Holds Optimistic View For Plant Charles Harwood, president of Signetics Corporation, had an optimistic outlook for the future of the Orem shop. He felt the plant could be up to their peak production of some 1100 employees employ-ees within the year. At a luncheon held Friday in his honor, to which many community and civic leaders were invited, Mr. Harwood stated that Signetics Corporation has plants in several countries, but is dominated by American stockholders. stock-holders. Mr. Harwood was visiting Orem from the company's home office in Sunnyvale, California, with members of his top staff. Signetics Corporation has doubled in production from four million to eight million in one year. "We have barely scratched the surface," Mr. Harwood said. The prospects for future growth continue to lead this fight and other important aspects of consumer con-sumer protection." The author of THE WATER CRISIS, published in 1067,Senator Moss is known for his interests and work in the field of water resources. He is an advocate of the wise use of conservation conservat-ion of all natural resources. He is also the author of several seve-ral bills in this field, including includ-ing the bill which established Canyonlands National Park in Utah. are tremendous, according to the corporation president. Mr. Barebo made a special presentation presen-tation to Don Liddie for his assistance in securing the property prop-erty on which the plant is built. Mr. Liddie is vice president in charge of the international department. Orem City Mayor Winston Crawford presented Mr. Harwood with a box of Orem grown apples as a token of the city's appreciation appreci-ation for the Signetics program here. Also attending the luncheon from the main office were Jack Halter, vice president of corporate cor-porate products and marketing; Gerry Peters of the behavior science department; Tim da Silva, vice president, manufacturing man-ufacturing operations; Jerry Crowley, vice president, sales; Dan Eastman, corporate industrial indus-trial relations J manager; and Chuck Wheatley TTL digital products. The circuits which are made by the company are produced on plastic wafers through a chemical and photographic process. Neil Bullock, former BYU student, and Provo resident, resi-dent, supervises the making of the circuits. He was transferred trans-ferred by the company to the Orem plant in March of this year.
