Scera Park News Report By Andy Chrostowski and Lorelie Nyberg Scera Park fourth grades are having a pioneer display. Every student pioneer relic which he or she wanted to display was appreciated. ap-preciated. We had many relics such as a fog horn, made from a buffalo horn, two flat irons, spurs, men's dancing slippers, a model of a spinning wheel and pioneer glasses. We also had corn grinders and old clocks. We are having school like the pioneers with slates and dunce corners. We are dressing like pioneers, too. One day we made bread and churned butter. We hada spellingbee, square danced, sang pioneer songs then ate our bread and butter. Mrs. Georgia Buss told the children a pioneer story, "Betsy Buttons, which they all enjoyed. Miss Thompson, Mrs. Rowe and Miss Smith and their students stu-dents all wore pioneer clothing both days to school. Everyone in the school came down to the fourth grade rooms to visit and see the relics. GERMANY Christmas customs van from one part of the country to the other in Germany. Throughout tho, it's a real family affair and not considered consid-ered as commercial as in some lands. Main shopping streets and store windows are brilliantly lighted but there are few Christmas lights in the homes since electricity is too costly. Candles are still used on many of the Christmas trees. Days before Christmas, German women take to the kitchen and bake enormous amounts of cookies and cakes. Christmas Eve services are held in most churches from four to floe P.M., then everyone goes home for supper. After supper the mother lights the Christmas tree, which is decorated with cookies, candles and ornaments. The rest of the family sings carols around the tree and then the gifts. There is no traditional Christmas meal in. Germany, but at noon mosf families have a large rabbit 01 goose, vegetables, mashed potatoei and a little wine.
