With low interest rates giving us reasonably priced mortgage loans, investment possibilities abound for second home buyers, trade-up and scale-down buyers, making starter homes available for first-time buyers. . - The advantage goes to the seller in this year 's market because the national inventory of homes is smaller than the number of qualified buyers. However, homeowners often wait until spring to list their homes, which increases both the local inventory and the competition among sellers. Buyers will have more homes to choose from, and may feel less inclined to compromise their personal needs to accommodate a seller's terms. They may take longer to shop for the right home because there are more properties to look at. More competition isn't a problem when the market is as lively as it is right now. Ask your Realtor to provide you with local listing and sales data so you can see how many comparable homes have sold recently in your area. This will give you a good idea of how long it will take to sell your home and what your asking price should be.
