The resort is operating with all 19 lifts, 79 runs and all six bowls Deer Valley is now hosting the Dual Giant Slalom Format Racing where racers rac-ers can challenge other racers against the clock for $2 per run. The race course is located off Sterling lift. An adult full-day lift tickets costs $65 for adults and $35 for children. January 11, The Canyons reported no new snow which brings the total base depth to 53 inches at mid-mountain. Larger snow depths can be found at higher high-er elevations. Fourteen lifts covering eight mountains and 139 runs are in full swing featuring Dreamscape, Peak 5 and CIA (terrain park), Golden Eagle and now Daybreak. The Canyons is open 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily. Adult full-day lift tickets costs $59 and for children 12 and under, $34. For more information on prices and reservations, reser-vations, call 649-5400. Gorgoza Park is now open full time. One-ride tickets cost $6 for tubers ages 7 and older, $3 for kids 3-6. Two-hour tickets cost $10 for 3-6 and $17 for 7 and older. Gorgoza is now offering expanded activities including lift-served tubing, Mini Z snowmobiles rides and the new lift-served jib park. The park Is open weekdays from noon to 8 p.m. and on weekends from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. For more info, call 658-2648. White Pine Tourinq Center's cross-country track is located at the Park City Municipal Golf Course. Twenty kilometers of track, including the farm, is now open for skiing. The 5K and 3K tracks are also open. The touring center encourages encour-ages early morning skiers to let the groomers roll the track before heading out. Mirror Lake Highway, S.R. 150, is only open through mile marker 15, Soapstone Basin. Grooming on the Beaver Creek trail will take place every Thursday. Near Mirror Lake, five feet of snow is reported by the Kamas Ranger District. A warming hut, near the Mirror Lake Guard Station is up and running Friday through Sunday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Dogs are allowed on odd-numbered days. The Forest Service would like to remind users that recreation passes are still needed and fines will be imposed on those vehicles who fail to display a pass. For those using the backcoun-try, backcoun-try, the Forest Service would like to urge recreationalists to use the avalanche forecast fore-cast number before venturing outdoors, 658-5512. Also, recreationalists are encouraged encour-aged to contact the avalanche center if an avalanche is triggered to report the safety status of the involved party, at 1-800-662-4140. For up-to-the-minute information call the Kamas Ranger District at 435-783-4338. Cross-country skiers, snowshoers, snowmobilers and backcountry skiers are urged this winter to contact the Utah Avalanche Forecast Center, 658-5512, before venturing ventur-ing into the backcountry. As of Friday, January 11 , the Avalanche Center reported no new snow. With the recent warm trend, snow conditions are either soft or crusty. The general condition of the snow is wet and heavy and the Avalanche Center advises that users stay clear of steep slopes where the snow is wet and heavy. Avalanche danger is moderate with the warmer weather, slides are easy to trigger. However, there are packed trails that are supportable and generally safe to use.
