Cofer Chiropractic PCST Slder of the Month is Jessica Lyle During the month of December, several of the Park City Ski Team's A Team athletes participated in a six race FIS series in Jackson Hole, followed by a four day series in Park Gty. Jessica Lyle, a new PCST Junior 1 athlete, thrived in fhe tough situation of ten race days in a row. At the Western Region FIS races, Jess played the bride's maid, coming in second in four out of the six races. Showing that she was the strongest multi-event multi-event junior in the West. Jess won the second run in both Giant Slaloms and in one Slalom and finished the series with two seconds in Super G. At the Eric Hays Memorial races in Park City, she broke the second place jinx, winning the first Giant Slalom, holding off teammate Kim Stephens and the University of Utah squad. Jess wrapped up the December series with another second in Giant Slalom and a third in Slalom. All in all, an outstanding December for a great young athlete. ath-lete. PCST shines at Snowbird, Sun Valley by Karen Finocchio PARK CITY SKI TEAM If the Park City Ski Team had not already established themselves as a top team, they did so this past weekend at Snowbird Snow Series Dual Slaloms. This unique head-to-head format allows athletes to compete against each other as well as the clock. Unlike typical soft Snowbird race conditions, both courses remained in top form with minimal ruts and hard snow in the track. In their first race of the season. PCST C Team athletes put forth top showings on both days. Austie Blais, a Junior 4. and Kiley Staples, a Junior 5, earned back-to-back victories in their respective age classes. PCST men dominated the top 10 overall positions securing third throueh 10th. 13th and 15th on Saturday. PCST women matched the men's results with Megan Malone taking the overall win and another seven athletes placing in the top 15. PCST showed off its tremendous tremen-dous depth with giant moves from bad start positions. Junior 4 girls Molly Cannon and Whitney Watts leapt from their latter start positions posi-tions into fifth and ilth for their age class. Mark KJeinman, who started 60th in Junior 4s, powered his way into an 11th for his age class. Opening with such tremendous success, PCST is looking forward to upcoming Junior Olympic qualifying qualify-ing races this weekend at Jackson and South Series races at Park Gty. Sua Valley PCST made a quick adjustment from the Utah Winter Games Tech Series into their opening Intermountain super-g last weekend week-end at Sun Valley. The Allan Patterson Memorial welcomed top competitors from throughout Southern Idaho. Wyoming and Utah in a three-day series. Despite fresh snow and mountain moun-tain closures for avalanche control. PCST Junior Is and 2s were rewarded for their patience. PCST again dominated top positions securing 13 top places throughout the series. Christon Horstman and Ted Ligety made tremendous gains from later start positions. Niki Waldburger joined Piper Bohnn in earning their first top-15 placings of the season. PCST athletes are preparing to leave for their next Junior Olympic qualifier this weekend at Jackson Hole. This upcoming giant slalom should prove as successful as the season's previous races.
