Plant Your Bulbs Now for Spring Park City Nursery 649-1363 Abandoned mines to be closed The Division of Oil, Gas and Mining will hold a public meeting to discuss closing 48 abandoned mines in and around Park City. The meeting is Tuesday, April 27, 1993, at 7:30 p.m., in Council Chambers at City Hall, 445 Marsac Avenue. "Our main concern is public safety," says Louis Amodt, project manager for the Abandoned Mine Reclamation Program. "There are abandoned mines right in town and on the ski slopes. We plan to begin closing these dangerous sites this summer." Early mining activities left thousands of abandoned mines in Utah. Utah is working to close mines that pose the greatest threat-to threat-to public safety. ; In recent years, three Utahns ; have died in abandoned mines.! Other people have been lost or' injured.
