The leader of the San Francisco-based Dynatones, drummer Big Walter Shuf-felsworth, Shuf-felsworth, sums up the rocking group's musical philosophy with typical enthusiasm, en-thusiasm, "We want to make the kind of music that makes people dance, sweat and drink." When the group played at the Cowboy a few months ago backing veteran blues-man blues-man Charlie Musselwhite (who's since parted ways with the band) they certainly cer-tainly lived up to Shuffels-worth's Shuffels-worth's credo. As Park City Newspaper reviewer Jay Meehan put it, "It was an evening for dancers and listeners alike. "The Dynatones played almost every cut from their recent 'Curtain Call' album (displaying) that they have very much kept alive the tradition of 1940s style Chicago Chi-cago blues... by infusing it with innovative styles of the day," Meehan wrote. "As with any fine combo, the Dynatones feature a super strong rhythm section. Shuffelsworth handles the drumming chores, keeping time in jazz-funk fashion with bassist Jay Peterson... The guitar work is the singular turf of Rick Welter, and whether it be biting, soaring blues leads, fluid up-tempo bottleneck riffs a la Elmore James, or the steadiest of rhythms during a bandmate's break, he is a definitive crowd pleaser." Other Dynatones personnel person-nel include lead vocalist Danny Cerretta (whose previous pre-vious credits include work as a backup singer with the Young Rascals), veteran blues keyboardist Tommy Giblin, and saxophonist Rich Hale (who has worked with the O'Jays and Clarence Clemons of Bruce Springsteen's Spring-steen's E Street Band). Cover charge at the Cowboy Cow-boy bar will be $5 on Jan. 5 and 6 and $6 on Jan. 7 and 8. Call 649-4146 for more information infor-mation and reservations. V t! : . ff i ' . J?,-.
