Art lovers came out in droves for the Sunday opening to meet both artists and admire their t most recent works. .. Fraughton, a native of Park City, has gained increasing in-creasing recognition nationwide nation-wide in the last decade for his vigorous and spirited interpretations of Western history. His powerful bronzes of Indian and frontier fron-tier life, of wild horses and cowboys, are veritable ex 'Killing Radius' to premiere at Egyptian The world premiere of the award-winning play Killing Radius will happen at the Egyptian Theatre next Thursday evening, Nov. 4. The play is based on actual experiences of a young man in Vietnam and has been described by author Craig Clyde as "not unlike One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest" Fecause of the surprise ending, the rehearsal set of Killing Radius has been closed. And you can look for special high technical effects in this show. Battle footage will run in the background as battle scenes take place on stage. The lighting for the play has been designed by Ed Warner, the lighting Chamber music begins tonight On Thursday evening the stage at the Egyptian Theatre will be filled with twenty symphony musicians playing chamber music in the theatre's intimate surroundngs. This special debut performance of the Utah Virtuosi is made possible through a number of sponsoring organizations including the National Endowment for the Arts and the Utah Arts Council. Locally the event is being presented by the Egyptian Theatre, KPCW and the Park City Library. Selections for the evening are Concerto Grosso in B flat, Op. 3 No. 1 by Handel, Concerto in E flat major for two horns by Hayden, Ancient Airs and Dances Suite No. 1 by Resphigiu and Symphony No. 5 in B flat major by Schubert. Tickets for the series and for individual performances are available at both the Park City Library and the Egyptian Theatre. Among the recent works on exhibit here is a retrospective retro-spective piece, "Anasazi," a favorite among the many viewers present at the Sunday Sun-day opening. The work of an Indian climbing a stone cliff won an award at the National Nation-al Academy of Western Art competition in 1977. The largest piece in the local exhibit is "Spirit of Wyoming," a copy of Fraughton's commissioned work to become a permanent monument on the grounds of the Wyoming State Capitol in Cheyenne. Fraughton is a graduate of the University of Utah and design engineer for KUTV in Salt Lake City. In addition there are a number of experimental audio-visual aids used. Killing Radius is being filmed for a later showing on cable television. The audience au-dience reaction will be part of the taping. Tickets for Killing Radius are $7 general admission and $5.50 for members of the. Egyptian Theatre. This show is being produced pro-duced by First West Films and is not part of the regular theatre season for the Egyptian Egyp-tian Theatre. Therefore, no season tickets will be honored. That year he produced the winning design used on President Ronald Reagan's inaugural medal. Richard Murray's oil paintings of mountain and valley landscapes reflect his own soft-spoken nature. The kindness and softness of nature is lovingly represented repre-sented in the 42 paintings in the Meyer Gallery exhibit; some 14 of those works were purchased at the Sunday opening. His clear, subtle hues and his attention to detail draw the viewer into his paintings. Murray studied with the late Alvin Gittins at the University of Utah, also a close friend of Doug Snow, who exhibited at Kimball Art Center here in August. He has been exhibiting in Utah since 1971 and has won several awards in Utah. Although most of his landscapes land-scapes are of Utah and the mountain regions, he travels widely in England and Africa.
