Show t Wednesday, March 29, 1978 . Summit Page 9 Californian Escapes Death In Chuck Hole Mishap Con JReDort By Nan Chalat & Doc Murdock This week there were big doin's out in the county. But we were too busy skiing to find out about them. Our South Summit correspondent said it was something to do with a close encounter encoun-ter over on Will Marsupial's farm. Apparently, this here flyin' saucer lit right in the middle of a row just as Will was trying to plow it. He couldn't get it to leave so he went to get help but nobody would come over. They were too busy with spring chores. Nobody's seen Will since. In an unrelated incident over in Coalville, County Planner Max Greenhaugh handed in his resignation. When asked why he was quitting, he said: "Boredom. The last thing I got to plan around here was shoveling all the snow off Rockport Park so we didn't have to close it for the winter. And you remember how that turned out: as soon as we'd get it all shoveled off, it would snow again." I guess the big news, though, was that the Sunn Classic crew was up by Smith and Morehouse Lake shooting Grizzly Adams. When apprehended, apprehend-ed, the perpetrators of the dastardly crime claimed they had good reason: bad acting, bear baiting, and general misuse of good TV time. Adams, who appeared to be either dead or acting, ac-ting, would not comment. In sports, rumor has it that Olympic talent scouts have found a hot bed of promising talent at South Summit High. Coaches don't mean to be jumping the gun but in anticipation conversational conver-sational Russian will be added to the coaching curriculum next fall. When pressed for additional tidbits of gossip for the Summit County Report our resident Peoa naturalist, Kale Ruffageson, mentioned having to relocate a two-winged fur-legged Mink Snipe who had taken up resident in his truck over the winter. Snowmobilers and skiers are expressing mixed feelings -about the retreating snow conditions. con-ditions. Prompted by the full moon; a handful of nordic "lunaticsatf hmt6ir'KiiYoM were delighted to find that Elmer's White Klister did the trick. Well that wraps up news in the county on April Fool's Day, 1978. Goodnight, Nan. Goodnight, Doc. A California woman was discovered wet ''ut uninjured unin-jured after she accidently fell into one of Park City's larger chuck holes over the weekend. Beverly Hills was walking down Woodside Avenue Sunday Sun-day after attending Easter services when a strong gust of wind blew her hat off her ochures- ANYTHING- head and into one of I he city's water-filled craters. As she bent down to retrieve the errant bonnet another gust propelled it to the cen ter of the small pond. Extending Exten-ding herself even farther. Miss Hills lost her balance and plunged into the chuck hole. The victim was still treading water when help arrived and she was pulled from the water exhausted but unharmed. "I could never have lasted if it weren't lor that compact car submerged on the bottom," bot-tom," Miss Hills said alter her rescue. "When I got tired I could tip-toe on its roof and just barely get my nose above the surface. But I'm surprised anyone would park there." City officials said the chuck hole would be filled as soon as their road, maintenance main-tenance equipment was pulled from a larger hole on Empire Avenue.
