Pageant Thursday, August 16 For the first time in approximately ap-proximately five years, Utah County is holding a queen pageant in connection with the Utah County Fair. The event will take place Thursday, Thurs-day, Aug. 16 at 7:30 p.m. at Lak-eridge Lak-eridge Jr. High School, 951 S. 400 West, Orere. Six contestants from throughout through-out the county will be participating. participat-ing. Mard Ith, Miss Payson, 1989; Sally Taylor, Miss 8pringville, 1989; Elizabeth Anne Johnson, Mias Utah Valley, 1989; Mindy Whiting Run-nerup Run-nerup Mias Spanish Fork, 1989; Danaca Palmer, Miss Lehi 1988; and Sherie North, Miss UVCC 1989 are the six contestants. These girls bring to the pageant the top talent in the valley and will be competing all normal Miss Utah Miss America areas-interview, swimsuit, evening gown and tal-' ent ' . In addition to the contestants, this year's pageant will be co-hosted by Marianne Bales Thompson, Miss Utah 1987; and Jodee Clark, non-finalist non-finalist talent winner Miss Utah 1989. Both hostesses will 'perform during the evening, together with Joey Thompson, husband of Marianne, Mari-anne, who will be singing and providing pro-viding the background music during dur-ing the evening and Julie Joqjenaen, former runnerup, Miss Or em, will perform on the harp and piano. Scholarshipi will be provided to the queen In the amounftf $35; first runnerup, $250; and second runnerup, $150. In addition, there will be additional awards made for talent winner and the most ticket sales. The queen will represent Utah County at the Miss Utah Scholarship Scholar-ship Pageant in 199 1, with the first runnerup going to Miss Utah State Fair in September, giving her a chance at Miss Utah also, if she wins that pageant This will be the first time in approximately five years that Utah County will have a representative rep-resentative at the state fair.
