The UGS, with the support sup-port of the U.S. Department Depart-ment of Energy's Wind Powering .America Program, Pro-gram, installs 20-meter or 50-meter anemometer towers with monitoring equipment for a period of one year for qualifying applicants. The State Energy En-ergy Program's Anemometer Anemom-eter Loan Program helps Utahns take the guesswork guess-work out determining if wind power development is feasible. Data collected will measure wind speed and wind direction, and the frequency at which each occurs. The data also helps the UGS better understand the nature of Utah's wind resource. Program participants are required to mail a data plug monthly to the State Energy Program and, in return, participants receive a monthly data analysis report. At the end of the loan agreement the State Energy Program will provide pro-vide the participant with a final report informing the participant of the feasibility feasibil-ity of small or large-scale wind development on the participant's property. The deadline for applications appli-cations is March 1, 2008.
