Shannon Davis ' MJHS STAFF WRITER Mapleton Junior High had their first fund-raiser on Friday, Nov. 3. he doors opened at 6 p.m. for the start of a silent auction. Dinner was catered by Goodwood Barbeque Company. Com-pany. A live auction began at 8 p.m. with Ty Tingey as the auctioneer. He is considered consid-ered Utah's best auctioner. (He joked that the title was given by his mother). The MJHS orchestra, band and choir performed and did a fantastic job. The foods class at MJHS also prepared pre-pared and served hors d' oeuvres. It was a huge success. suc-cess. Some of the things auctioned auc-tioned off included a membership mem-bership to the diner's club, a home teeth whitening kit, a years supply of dental care, Nuskin baskets for men and women, movies, snacks, Seven Peaks passes, pass-es, pony rides, ski tickets, and much more. So, if you didn't come, you missed out. The fund-raiser was held to raise money a marquee, a greenhouse, and fitness equipment for Mapleton Junior High. The PTA expected ex-pected around 150 people to attend and buy tickets for the dinner. In reality, over 400 people attended and over $20,000 was raised for the school. Mapleton Junior High students, faculty, and PTA would like to extend their gratitude to everyone who contributed. He has three children, Warren, Wally, and Bennett. He likes to fish, build houses, and he enjoys watching "The Searchers", a John Wayne classic.
