Show Thursday, September 21, 2006 Obituaries OrvilleE. Swanson "Pa" 1909-2006 Orville E. Swanson passed away on Wednesday, Wednes-day, Sept. 13, 2006 after a long productive life. Orville was born on September Sep-tember 26, 1909, in Los Angeles, An-geles, California. Early in his childhood, he moved to Green River, Utah, where he was raised, surrounded by family and friends. He graduated from Green River Riv-er High School, where he met his wife Breta. They were married on August 30, 1933 in Green River. Together, they raised four children. Breta passed away on November 19, 1973. Orville was employed by the Moab Garage Company, Compa-ny, where he worked as a truckbus driver. He later went to work for the Rio Grande Railroad, where he retired in 1975. After his retirement, he became active with the senior citizens, citi-zens, where he met and later married Reta Kelly. She passed away on June 9,2003. Orville possessed a warm presence and enjoyed people. He was a lifetime member of the Damascus Lodge 10 in Provo and a Deacon in the Spring-ville Spring-ville Community Church. Throughout his life, he acquired many hobbies, which provided him with a great deal of joy in his later years. He was instrumental in encouraging en-couraging his children to attend the University. After Af-ter his retirement and marriage mar-riage to Reta, they traveled extensively. Orville is survived by three sons and a daughter: Elwood (Judie), Clinton (Beverly), Terry (Vicki), and Judy (Michael). Orville also had numerous grandchildren, grand-children, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. neph-ews. The family wishes to thank Applegate Hospice, Highland Care Center, and Orville's breakfast buddies at Highland Cove, who gave him something to look forward to each morning. A celebration of Orville's life was held September 16th at the Springville Community Church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Shriners Children's Hospital Hos-pital or the Primary Children's Chil-dren's Medical Center in memory of Orville. She was born January 28, 1936, in Springville, to Jesse Evon Averett and Valeria Holt Averett. She married Richard Rich-ard Dale Allan on August 22, 1962 in the Manti LDS Temple. He preceded her in death on October 7, 1969. Leah Mae received a bachelors degree in elementary el-ementary education from Brigham Young University, Univer-sity, taught for a few years and then became a librarian librar-ian for Nebo School District Dis-trict for several years. She served an LDS mission in Japan. Leah Mae loved life and it showed in her smile. Her compassion for others showed in everything she did. She was an outstanding outstand-ing mother and grandmother grand-mother and we will miss her dearly. She is survived by her mother, Valeria Holt Averett Av-erett of Springville; her four brothers: Kaye (Myrl Ann) Averett of Spanish Fork, Ben (Patty) Averett of Salt Lake City, Randy (Barbara) Averett of Po-catello, Po-catello, Idaho; Jerry (Teri) Averett of Springville; her daughter, Jennifer (Kevin) Scruggs of Syracuse; and three grandchildren: Josh, Sydney and Jensen. Mike was born December 4, 1945 to Theresa Roy and Willard Leon Vincent in Payson, Utah. He was the second of seven children. He was raised in Spanish Fork and Springville. He attended Springville High School and graduated in 1964. Following graduation, gradua-tion, he enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corp and served three tours in Vietnam. Mike was a sharp shooter and continued to improve his skills during his entire life. In 1969, Mike met the love of his life, Janice Peay, daughter of Belva and Donald Don-ald Peay of Provo. They were happily married for 36 years. During their marriage mar-riage they welcomed four children: Stacy, Jaime Lynn (deceased), Mandy and Bradley. Mike had many hobbies including hunting, fishing, farming, fixing things, reloading gun shells, taking care of animals and spending time with his grandchildren. Mike worked at Geneva Steel for 29 years. Upon closing, he went to work for Harrison Transportation Transporta-tion and Ryan Company of Chantilly, VA. He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and loved to continue learning about His Savior Jesus Christ. Mike loved life and had a real zest for f un.
