Pennies by the Inch campaign begins Two-year-old Tanner Gill-man Gill-man from Pleasant Grove is one of thousands of patients who has been cared for at Primary Children's Medical Medi-cal Center in Salt Lake City. When Tanner was just 15 months old, a ladder fell on him, breaking his neck. He was life flighted to Primary Children's where his life hung by a thread. "The support from Tanner's Tan-ner's doctors and nurses during such a trying time was amazing," said Tanner's Tan-ner's mother, Jamie. "Even though there were hundreds of patients being cared for at Primary when Tanner was there, the staff made us feel like he was the most important im-portant one." Thanks to a high-level of medical care at Primary Children's, Tanner is now an energetic, talkative tod-. tod-. dler who keeps his parents on their toes! Each year, thousands of children like Tanner are helped through Primary Children's Medical Center's annual campaign, Pennies by the Inch. Funds contributed contrib-uted to Pennies by the Inch help patients receive the medical care they need. Primary Children's serves Buffalo chips ARE NO LONGER AN OPTION. BUFFALOS: MEAT AND HEAT. No joke. Early settlers to the MountainWest used buffalo chips for cooking and heating. While "alternative energy sources" are all the rage nowadays, we strongly discourage using buffalo chips in existing heating units. Besides, natural gas is much cleaner, efficient, and convenient. People don't think much about buffalo chips or how they're going to heat their homes. They kind of take their home heating for granted. The young people told about their experiences in learning how the city, county, state and national elections are held and about running for offices in them. They said they had much more respect for the American Flag and the freedoms they enjoy. Tom and Carolyn Jones entertained the group with songs both in Spanish and English. I Replace your furnace filters. It's only a couple of bucks, andean make a big difference in furnace efficiency. 3 Remove flammablecombustible materials from near your furnace. We hope we don't need to explain why this is necessary. i ) , " , 3 Give your furnace room to breathe. You know how when you blow on a fire, it bums better? Same principle applies here. Make sure your air vents, cold-air returns and heat registers are clear. Three drops of oil in your furnace's motor is all it takes to keep things in line. If only your kids were that easy to manage. Check those motor, belts, too. If they're cracked, replace them. Hare your furnace inspected by a licensed heating contractor. Tis easier (and cheaper) to maintain, than to repair. Someone wise once said that, and they were right. As part of a routine checkup to get your furnace ready for winter, most contractors will also perform a Green Sticker inspection to make sure your furnace is properly adjusted for the upcoming shift in gas supplies.
