Show Thursday, September 9, 2004 SPRINGVILLE HERALD 11 OBITUARY Lorraine II Davies Lorraine Riley Davies passed away September 3, 2004 in St. George, Utah. She was born October 9, 1923 in ; Goshen, Utah to John T. and ; Sadie Lewis Riley. She mar-: mar-: ried LaVar H. Davies August Au-gust 29, 1942 in Ogden, Utah. Their marriage was later solemnized sol-emnized in the Manti IDS Temple. '. Her early years were ; spent in Goshen, after which her family moved to Spanish Fork, Utah where she re-; re-; ceived her education, graduating gradu-ating from Spanish Fork ; High School She later ! moved with her parents to Ogden, Utah where she ; worked as a secretary at the 'Ogden Army Supply Depot. ' She met her husband at a ; church social, and later sup-; sup-; ported him as he served in the Navy during World War II. After the war they lived in Provo, Orem, and finally ' settled down in Springville where they resided for over fifty years. Lorraine was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Je-sus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving in the primary prima-ry and relief society for many years, as well as in the Provo Temple as an ordinance ordi-nance worker. Lorraine was an accom-- accom-- plished knitter, quilter, and ceramist. Her handiwork is treasured by friends and . family. She was a loved .mother, grandmother, great-grandmother great-grandmother and friend to all. Trevyn Smith, son of Mr. and Mrs. IReed Smith, was selected Red - Devil Football Offensive Player of the Week for his outstanding per-; per-; formance in the game against Mt ;View. She is survived by her husband hus-band of 62 years, LaVar H. Davies; two sons and two daughters: Michael (Karen) Davies, American Fork; Lucille Lu-cille (Don) Olsen, Houston, TX; Roger (Sydne) Davies, St. George; and Chris (Michael) Williams, Pleasan-ton, Pleasan-ton, CA; 19 greandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents. Funeral services were held Wednesday, Sept. 8 in the Hobble Creek Stake Center in Springville. Burial was in the Springville Evergreen Cemetery.
