Andrew performed well every week through some very tough circumstances. Andrew is the son of Willy and Ann Pcnrod of Maplcton. Brcnnan Todd was awarded the outstanding SHS Special Team Player of the Year by Coach Merideth. Brennan is the son of Conrad and Peggy Todd of Mapleton. In four years at SHS Brent has passed for over 5200 vanls and 52 touchdowns. Brent is the son of Raymond and ! ".ct Ni-cl of Springville. " - t Coach Alan Curtis presented the 1999 Red Devil Football Most Improved Player award to Shane ulfgramm. Shane is the son of Peiholani and Patricia Tuiaki of Springville. Sierra Skabelund on All-state soccer team The 1999 Red Devil Scout Team Player of the Year award was presented to D.J. Robinson by Coach Pinkney. D.J. worked hard all year to prepare for each opponent. D.J. is the son of Dale Robinson of Springville. Coach Child presented the 1999 Red Devil Football Outstanding Offensive Back award to Robby Gueck. Robby had a great year catching 16 I'D passes and 986 yards receiving. Robby is the son of Jim and Dana Gueck of Springville. 1 La k J ";- 7 k3L fry - The 1999 Red Devil Football Most Inspirational Player award was presented to Andrew Penrod. Andrew played all year through injuries and was very inspirational to his teammates and others. Andrew is the son of Willy and Ann Penrod of Mapleton. Coach Ewing presented the award at the recent Football Awards Bamiuet. Spencer played on offense and defense all year long doing a super job. Spencer is the son of Lonnie and Rixa Oman of Springville. The Liberty Bell was cracked by a stroke of its clapper in Sept. 1752 while it hung on a truss in Philadelphia's State house yard for testing. Most lakes are freshwater bodies; however, a few, such as the Great Salt Lake and the Dead Sea, are more salty than the oceans. Springville High senior, Sierra Sier-ra Skablund. has been selected as a second team member of the Salt Lake Tribune's 1999 4A All-State Soccer Team. A first team All-Region Six selection as a midfielder. Sierra, was also named to the Deseret News' All-State All-State Honorable Mention team. She was the only Region Six player to make the Tribune's All-State team. Sierra has lettered in soccer as a nieniber of the Red Devil Varsity Var-sity Soccer Team since her'1 freshman fresh-man year and has played the majority of. every girls' 'soccer game since the beginning of the 1996 season. Through hard work and determination deter-mination Sierra has developed excellent foot skills that have made her an excellent ball handler han-dler and passer. She has also been a valuable asset on defense. A team leader. Sierra served as co-captain of the lady Red Devils, Dev-ils, who recently completed their most successful season ever. She was named Sprinaville's Most Valuable Player for the 1999 season at the team's annual awards banquet. Sierra has also been an All-State All-State swimmer for the Red Devil Swim Team, having placed 3rd and 4th in :he 500 yard freestyle and 200 yard individual medley events at the Utah State 4A High School Swim Championships during the past two seasons. Of interest. Sierra's niece and good friend and a former Springville Spring-ville resident, Analyn Skabelund, who plays soccer for Timpview High School in Provo, was also named to the Deseret News' Honorable Mention 4A All-State team. She also was selected as her school's MVP for the 1999 soccer season. Both girls are honor students at their respective high schools and compete year around in the Springville Seals swim program and on Utah Valley's Val-ley's U-18 Celtic Storm Competitive Competi-tive Soccer Team.
