The marriage was later solemnized in the LDS Temple. May was involved in PTA, civic clubs and was a volunteer at the Springville Museum of Delmar Delmar Whitney, 82, died Saturday, July 24, 1999 in the St. George Care Center. He was born April 3, 1917 in Mapleton, Utah to Harvey Har-vey A. and Claudia Johnson Whitney. He married Edith Powell May 29, 1942 in Spanish Fork. She preceded him in death January 5, 1999. Delmar had worked as a carpenter, cement finisher, heavy equipment equip-ment operator, pre-cast concrete foreman and a home builder. He had done the pre-cast cut off walls and diversions on the Provo River, the bridges on the Provo River and elsewhere. Delmar had also done the pre-cast on several commercial buildings such as Robertson Marine Ma-rine and Moroni Feed. He had worked as a contractor on buildings for the atomic energy-project energy-project at Arco, ID. While serving in the Army Air Corps, Delmar Del-mar piloted B-24 and C-47 C-47 aircraft. He also, trained radar and radio operators. He had been stationed at Lang ley Field. VA, Sioux Falls. SD, and Scott Field. IL. Delmar had also served 2 12 years in the U.S. Air Force. Lucille Graveside services for Lucille Averett were held Fndav. Julv 23. 1999. at Mount Hope Cemetery in Lander. Wyoming. Lucille Averett. 71. died at the Lander Val-lev Val-lev Medical Center Julv 19. 1999. Born November Novem-ber 18. 1927 to Moses T. and Lillian Cox Shepherd Shep-herd at Hunter. Utah. As a youth. Lucille harvested fruit and worked at the Caiincrv near her home. She prepared hot lunches for the school children of Brookside and Grant Schools for about five years. Lucille and Max Edward Averett. were married on St. Valentine's Valentin-e's Day. 1946 in Las Vegas, Nevada. She also worked at Hill Air Force Base for a time. The family moved to Lander in 1963. Mr. Averett was employed at the Atlantic City Ore Mine, United States Herald - Page Eleven Art. She was an RSVP quitter at Utah State Hospital and a member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers. She had also been a worker in the Provo LDS Temple for three years. She is survived by one son and two daughters: John J. Miller, Nancy Miller Cowley and She-rie She-rie Christensen; twelve grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren and one brother, John W. Johnson of Colorado Springs, CO. Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 29, at noon in the Hobble Hob-ble Creek Stake Center, 500 S. 600 East, Springville. Spring-ville. Lawrence Whitney: and a sister, Mozelle (Wayne) Braithwaite. He was preceded in death by a sister and 10 brothers.
