Regardless of Past Credit History AUTO HOME LIFE HEALTH BUSINESS Library Corner by Pat Bartlett Our official reading program ended Monday with young readers read-ers reading thousands of hours and getting prizes for doing it. They were great! The kids read their way along the Reading Highway, visiting other lands, other times and other people. Each young person had things that they were interested in and were very successful in finding books at the library that satisfied that interest. The craft days were a huge success, as well as the special programs and story times for the entertainment of all. Thanks to Mrs. Milius and all who helped to make this a successful reading program. Even though the reading program is over, be sure to come in and get a few books to finish up the summer. BOOK REVIEW by Ellen "Gifted Hands" is the autobiography autobi-ography of Ben Carson who was raised in the ghetto and by the age of 33 became the director of pediatric neurosurgery at John Hopkins Hospital. What happened hap-pened to make Ben Carson a gifted surgeon can happen to anyone who develops the attitude, faith and skills the way Mr. Carson did. He shares with the reader, the tribulation and successes of growing grow-ing up, and continually reminds us of the support and guidance that he received from his mother. Carson tells us of some of the personal habits and attitudes that he had to overcome in order to obtain worthwhile goals. One of the author's greatest desires is to instill in the youth the same drive and attitude that allowed him to develop into the valuable individual individ-ual he is today. Small steps of the 1998-99 school year. For 76 years, the American Legion Auxiliary has supported and served the nation's veterans and their families. Auxiliary programs encompass many humanitarian hu-manitarian and social concerns, including the welfare and care of veterans, children and youth, women's issues and service to the community. i -- " r! i fSQ3MK5Vnffi o mwiftiQffimmig o 'WmJ LJ)y) Free Hamburgers, Hot Dogs, Drinks Free leathered Hot Air Balloon Rides Drawing for Prizes Throughout the Day - Including our Grand Prize f OOQOOffl j k t n We would like to learning and self-improvement that Carson took in his youth, paid back in later life in giant steps of accomplishment. The details of his childhood and students years are of interest to the reader, along with the wonderful stories of life saving later in the book. Many of the great things that happen in his life are directly correlated to his faith and love for God. Now is a good time to read this book if you are looking for ways to develop stronger skills in your life or the lives of your children. Mrs. Carson's steps are easy and clear, but she insisted that the boys follow through with them. The real key was in reading, read-ing, (and a pair of glasses) and as they learned new things they began to feel increasingly better about themselves and see where they could further improve. Surprisingly, they never thought of disobeying their mother, even when she was away at work. "Gifted Hands" is a well told story introducing skills, hope and faith that anyone can implement in their lives. Exclusive Mapleton 2 Story w over 3800 sf of spacious living.
