Swim team takes second The Springville Seals Aquatic Team recently competed in the three-day. Red. White and Blue Invitational Swim Meet held in American Fork. On July 28-31 several swimmers swim-mers from the team have qualified quali-fied to compete at the 1999 State Championship Meet held in Kearns. The meet format will consist of preliminary events in the mornings with the top 16 swimmers competing in consolations consola-tions and finals events in the evenings. On August 16-22 the 1999 Western Zone Championship Meet will be held in Grand June- SHS Golf team trjfouts scheduled Qualifying to try out for the 1999 Springville High School Golf Team will begin on Sunday, August 1, and conclude on Sunday, Sun-day, August 15. Any student, male or female, who will be in grades 9-12 for the 1999-2000 school year may participate in the qualifying event if they have no attendance deficiencies. In order to qualify to try out, golfers need to finish nine holes at the Hobble Creek Golf Course with a score of 50 or lower any day between August 1 and August Au-gust 15. Young men must play from the blue tees; young women may play from the red tees. Once a score of 50 or lower is achieved, the score card needs to be turned in to the pro shop. The round must be witnessed by an adult, 21-years-of-age or older. The witness should also sign the score card. Please print your full name and grade clearly. All students who successfully qualify will report to the Hobble Creek Golf Course at 6:45 a.m. on Tuesday, August 17, for an 18-hole try out. A total of ten golfers will make the team. This try-out is for any girl entering enter-ing the 9th, 10th, 11th or 12th grades. Girls will try-out for positions on the Sophomore, JV and Varsity Varsi-ty levels of play. Try-outs will run from 8 to 11 a.m., and from noon to 3 p.m., August 9, 10 and 11. All athletes should meet at Springville High School's main gym. Athletes should have a physical physi-cal before trying out. You may get physical forms in Springville high School's main office.
