Cami Boyer, 12th grade, is the daughter of Jay and Linda Boyer. Cami is busy with Choir, Hi's. Choir Council President. Music Sterling Scholar, Key Club . and the Save a Tree Club. She is also the Youth City Council Mayor and on the Playhouse Board Commitment to Youth Planning Committee. Her interests inter-ests are music, voice, piano, hiking, backpacking, camping, snow skiing and other mountain activities. Cami plans to attend college after high school graduation. gradua-tion. Ryan Joseph Vogel. 12th grade, is the son of Charles and Sandy Vogel. Ryan is ihe Senior Class President, the Business and Marketing Sterling Scholar. DECA President and a member of the Youth City Council Advisory Advi-sory Committee, the Chamber of Commerce and the Planning Committee in Springville. He especially enjoys basketball, an. music and his friends. After high school, Ryan plans to study business or law in college. Erik Brinkerhoff. 11th grade, is the son of Brad and Heidi Brinkerhoff. Erik is the editor on the newspaper staff and vice president of the German Club. Erik recently earned first place in Photography in the Reflections Contest for Springville High. His photograph is now in region judging. He enjoys his photography photogra-phy and journalism. Erik plans for an LDS mission and college at BYU Marytheresa Ifediba, 11th grade, is the daughter of Karen Goble and Titus Ifediba. Marytheresa Mary-theresa is in the Spanish Club and the International Club. She enjoys piano and dance. M arytheresa plans to attend BYU and major in geology. Christine Bastain, 10th, is the daughter of Reese and Cathie Bastian. Christine is involved in many service projects in her community. She enjoys writing, reading, playing the piano and singing. She hopes to be a writer. writ-er. Christine plans to attend BYU. Jared Walking Eagle, 10th grade, is the son of Allie and Lori Walking Eagle, he is going to be a candy striper. Jared enjoys en-joys writing, roller blading, skiing and mountain biking. After high school, jared plans to attend college. Two students are selected from each grade by the teachers. Phebe w as a pioneer women with great faith, fortitude and perseverance. In her 82 years, she crossed the continent from Canada to Mexico, from New York to California and back to Utah. She traveled by foot, sleigh, wagon, horseback and mule. It appears thai each mile and even task answered a call to go beyond her own comfort or personal desire. That same spirit that drove the efforts of her maternal great-grandfather, the noted Reverend John Lathrop. This year, the Utah Valley Choral Society offers an opportunity to join in on the choruses of Handel's masterpiece Saturday, Dec 13. The sing-in begins at 7:30 p.m. in the Provo Tabernacle. Ralph G. Laycock will conduct a live chamber orchestra. Members of the audience should bring their own scores. Soloists are Caroln Talboys-Klassen, Talboys-Klassen, soprano; Colleen Butler, contralto; Michael Ballam, tenor; and Clayne Robison, bass. Admission is $6 ($4 for students stu-dents and senior citizens). Tickets will be available from the booth at the southwest corner of the tabernacle beginning at 6:30 p.m., along with scores which may be rented or purchased. This is the 14th annual "Messiah" "Mes-siah" Sing-in sponsored by the choral Society. Johnson says that like Christmas trees, Handel's "Messiah" is an institution, and "the holidays just wouldn't be the holidays without "Messiah" Characterizing the sing-in as a "participation sport," she said that people enjoy singing this way because it doesn't demand the polish that a choir does. "You just get in there and sing." Carolyn Talboys-Klassen had he distinction of being selected to participate the Utah Opera's first Young Artist program in 1992. For the past six years, she has been an artist with Utah Opera and a soloist in its Opera-in -the-Schools Program. A Wisconsin native, she was a finalist in the 1994 Rocky Mountain Regional Metropolitan Metro-politan Opera Auditions in Denver. Den-ver. She soloed with the choral society in Haydn's "Creation." Colleen Butler has been a featured singer in the Temple Square Concert Series since 1990. She was a guest soloist with the University of Missouri at Columbia in 1992 and also was named Meistersinger in Utah's Mozart Festival. Michael Ballam, whose operatic oper-atic career spans two decades and four continents, has some command com-mand performances at the Vatican Vati-can and the White house and shared the stage with some of the world's great singers. A native of Logan, he founded the Utah Festival Opera which has its home there, and serves as its general director. Ballam is a professor of music at Utah State University. Clayne Robison, Professor of music and formerly director of opera at BYU, spent his evenings singing with the Boston Opera Group and Harvard Glee Club while completing his Juris Doctor degree at Harvard Law School. He has performed regularly with leading musical organizations in Utah and often with orchestras and opera companies throughout the western United States. The first opera, it's believed, was Daphne composed by Jacopo Pen of Italy in 1597 Jaden Sid Warren, son of Brittany (Tuttle) and Sid Warren War-ren of Springville, will be one year old December 11, 1997. His grandparents are Sharon and Morris Warren of Mapleton Maple-ton and Jill and Steve Tuttle of Springville. Jaden was born three months premature and weighed only 1 pound 14 ounces. ounc-es.
