Show uniOE Citizens for fillgrcEi These students were honored at the Springville Jr. High by being chosen "Citizens of the Month" for March. 8th Grade Amy Felix is the daughter of Raymond and Pam Felix and the late Susan Felix, and granddaughter of Wilford and Beverly Harris and Leo Felix. Amy likes to play the piano and accompanies her ward, youth choir. She likes poetry and is interested in art, cooking cook-ing and sewing. She as received re-ceived high honors since 6th Grade and would like to become be-come an elementary school teacher or design greeting cards. Donna Ann Biesinger is the daughter of James and Marianne Mari-anne Biesinger. Donna Ann is an honor roll student. She plays the piano and flute. She enjoys singing and acting. She loves to camp, ski and fish. She likes all kinds of sports, especially softball and volleyball. She also loves animals and has a hunt-, ing dog named Roxanne. Unlike Un-like most girls, Donna Ann hates to shop. She has three older brothers and two younger sisters. Matt Shockley, the son of Susan and Bob Shockley, enjoys the outdoors, sports, playing the piano and reading. Matt is an Eagle Scout and recently received his Bronze Palm. He is serving on the' Timberline Staff this year and' is a member of the Order of the Arrow. Matt is a hard worker wor-ker and takes pride in doing a good job. He enjoys activities with his friends, going places, and doing new things. Ryan Richey is the son of Scott and Susan Richey of Springville. Scouting has been a fun part of Ryan's life. He is a member of the Order of the Arrow and will complete his Eagle project this summer. At home he is building his dream--a model train set. Ryan loves creating at the piano and reading read-ing novels and autobiographies. He doesn't love cutting the lawn, or his hair, but manages to do both anyway. Give him a ball of any kind, or a script, and he knows just what to do. Ryan loves sports, drama and dance. She has a sense of humor and likes to make people laugh. She has taken gymnastics for nine years and dancing for two, winning awards in both areas. She is one of SHS's newest sophomore cheerleaders for 1990-91. She has played the violin for three years. Her aspirations are to be a professional profes-sional actress, dancer, comedian, or an astronomer. Amber loves acting and has been involved in several plays. Becki Anderson is the daughter of Margaret and B. Ray Anderson. She was born in Walnut Creek, California, and moved to Utah when she was five. Becki enjoys piano, fishing, fish-ing, snow skiing, ballet, gymnastics, traveling and camping. cam-ping. She is a good student and maintains a 3.8 GPA. Jared Condie is the son of Dr. and Mrs. Rulon Condie. He has two older brothers and five sisters. His favorite food is pizza. He likes school and works hard to maintain good grades. He received the Achievement of Excellence award in Seminary, and he had a 4.0 GPA last quarter. Jared also loves to play sports, especially football and baseball. base-ball. He also enjoys skiing and being with his friends. Kurt Evans is the son of Kent and Annette Evans of Mapleton. He enjoys all sports, particularly basketball and tennis. ten-nis. Kurt loves all outdoor activities except mowing the lawn. His favorite pastimes are backpacking, hunting, fishing, archery, bicycling and snow-boarding. snow-boarding. Recently the Springville FBLA participated in the Spring 'Leadership Training Conference in Salt Lake. Members competed in Business Math, Business English, Business Law, Accounting I & II, Keyboarding, Parliamentary Procedure, Public and Impromptu Speaking, etc. Those who placed are, from left to right: Ed Wiscombe, son of Edward and Shirlene Wiscombe, who placed 2nd in Business Calculations and 4th in Accounting I; Debbie Ruff, daughter of Howard and Kaye Ruff, placed 5th in Public Speaking; and Aaron Tilton, son of Charles and Pam Tilton, placed 6th in Business Law. Ed Wiscombe will be attending the national competition in Washington D.C. He also attended last year in Orlando, Florida. Art display in Mapleton Coal wasn't used as a fuel until the 12th century, though it had been used lor sculpture before then. Mapleton Elementary School will be the setting for "Art in Bloom," an art exhibit by students stu-dents and residents of Mapleton. Maple-ton. The event will begin Wednesday, Wed-nesday, April 25 and continue through April 26. Mr. Ralph Poulsen, principal of the school, issued a special invitation to the people of the Springville-Mapleton area. Each day the art can be viewed from 3 to 9 p.m. This is a special opportunity for students and adults to share their talents with each other. Community volunteers have come to the school to demonstrate demon-strate their skills and give the students "hands on" experience in several different media. There will be displays of classroom art projects, special student projects, and entries by adult members of the community. com-munity. In addition, there will be a special display of books written by the students. A recent Young Author's Conference Con-ference yielded over 500 books written and published at the school.
