Commission annexation Several annexation issues and one rezoning request were discussed at the regular meeting of the Springville Planning Commission April 24. Rod Despain appeared to discuss the annexation chapter of the Springville City Development Code. The County Boundary Commission, composition and responsibilities, was discussed at considerable length. It was also pointed out that a annexation policy declaration may have to be prepared by the community. It was decided by a 5 to 1 vote that H.B. 61 be presented to the City Council as an item of concern to the Planning Commission and request direction from City Council as to what if anything the Planning Commission should do in regard to preparing a Annexation Policy Declaration. Zone schedule, performance per-formance bonds, and types and methods of release, were also discussed. Glen Law - Appeared in reference to a zone change request for property adjacent to the Glenwood Subdivision, Mr. Law presented a proposal as to how he felt the land could better be used to better accomodate ac-comodate all persons concerned. Robert Crandall pointed out to Law that the Planning Commission had previously tabled a proposal presented by Jack Allen concerning property in that same area. Cecil Zimmerman requested that Law voluntarily withdraw his petition until a flag lot ordinance is completed. Law agreed to do this but requested a joint meeting of Allen, the Planning Commission, and himself work out some of the land use problems in this area. However,1 it was not certified by a licensed surveyor, as required by Title 11 Chapter 1 of the Springville City Code. Ed Murdock questioned Spradling about progress on gaining access to the property. To date the only access is along Weight Ave. Vaun Weight appeared ap-peared to discuss his proposed annexation in connection with that of Spradling. No action was taken. Robert Perry appeared ap-peared with reference to a proposed annexation of property west of Springville City Industrial In-dustrial Park and south of 1-15 access road. Perry has filed a diligence claim on runoff water from City pasture to irrigate this property. Murdock suggested that imput be obtained from the department heads before the Planning Commission makes a recomendation. Albert Schellenberg and Wilford Clyde appeared ap-peared for final approval of Plot B of the Wild Rose Subdivision. Murdock questioned width of 400 South as it has been laid out by the developers. Robert Gunnell has checked this problem and confirms that the street is laid out correctly. The commission voted unanimously to recommend recom-mend final approval of Plat B of the Wild Rose Subdivision, Bruce Killpack requested annexation of property located south of Springville High School at approximately 1200 East 900 South The recommendation recom-mendation received unanimous approval. The Planning Commission Com-mission budget for 1980 was discussed and the consensus was that the Planning Commission have a seperate budget and be assigned a full range of line items. She was born in Provo September 8, 1910, a daughter of Claud E. and Helen Blackett Eggertsen. Eggert-sen. She married Howard Thorpe and had a son, Don Thorpe, who preceded her in death. She next married Fred DeLude. Mrs. DeLude graduated from the American Fork High School in 1927 and attended Brigham Young University, where she was a member of the Val Norn social unit. From 1930 to 1955 she was soloist, chorister and accompanist at the LDS church and civic meetings in Provo and Springville. She served as organist at St. Anne's church at Rossmoor, Calif, from 1970 to 1978. She was employed at the First Security Bank in Provo from 1950 to 1955. As a young girl, she lived in Manti. She is survived by her husband, three brothers and one sister, Claude Andrew Eggertsen of Ann Arbor, Mich,; Paul Fred Eggertsen of Washington D. C; Harold Clark Eggertsen of Albuquerque, N.M., and Virginia Eggertsen Sorenson Waugh of Tangier, Morocco. Twenty nieces and nephews also survive. Memorial services were held at St. Anne church at Rossmoor. Mrs. DeLude was buried in Provo Cemetery on May 2. The Morris chair was designed, not by William Morris but by Philip Webb, and made by Morris and Company. (Bus) Diamond 70, of 995 West 1600 South, Mapleton died Tuesday, May 1, 1979 at his home following an illness. He was born Aug. 9, 1908 at Mapleton the son of Leonard L. and Harriet Pearl Lee Diamond. He was married to Muriel Sheen March 12, 1928 at Provo, Utah. The marriage was later solomized in the Manti LDS Temple. Mr. Diamond was an elder in the LDS Church and had served as secretary of the YMMIA. He was employed as a production foreman and in the maintenance dept. at the Del Monte Canning Co. prior to his retirement. Surviving, wife of Mapleton, one son Russell L. Diamond, Spanish Fork; 5 grandchildren; 6 step grandchildren; 4 great - grandchildren; 2 brothers and 1 sister, Ionard Lee Diamond, and Harold K. Diamond both of Mapleton; Mrs. DeMar (Helen) Beck, Leland. Funeral services will be Friday May 4, at 1 p.m. in the Mapleton lst-4th-5th LDS Ward Chapel, 31 West Maple St. Friends may call at the Wheeler Mortuary in Springville Thursday from 7 until 9 p.m. or at the ward chapel Friday one hour prior to the service. He was born Aug. 3, 1901 in Provo, a son of Prof. John C. and Margaret Davis Swenson. On Aug. 16, 1922, he married Lura Tanner in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Mr. Swenson received his education at BYU Training School and Brigham Young University, where he received his B.S. degree and teaching certificate. He attended the U.S. Naval Academy for 3'i years. Mr. Swenson taught school in Sugar City, Ida. ; Salina, and for 45 years was head athletic coach and science teacher at Lincoln High School in Orem. He also taught aeronautics at Orem High School. He retired in 1966. Mr. Swenson was a major and active in the Civil Air Patrol. He was active in civic affairs in Provo, serving on the Fourth of July celebration committee and charter member of the Radar Club, which later became the Riverside Country Club. Active in the LDS Church, he was scoutmaster scout-master in the Manavu Ward. At the time of his death, he was a member of Provo 19th Ward. Survivors include his wife; one daughter and two sons, Mrs. R. T. (Claire) Johnson, Bountiful; John C. Swenson, Springville; Dr. Robert T. Swenson, Provo; 16 grandchildren; 25 great- grandchildren; four brothers and two sisters, Reed K. Swenson, and Mrs. James (Margaret) Jacobs, both of Ogden; Albert D. Swenson and Richard D. Swenson, both of Provo; Joseph K. Swenson, Briarcliffe Manor, N. Y. and Mrs. Jay (Louise) Tolman, Grand Junction, Colo. Funeral services were Wednesday, May 2 at Berg Mortuary Chapel in Provo. Burial was in Provo City Cemetery. She was born Sept 21, 1928 in Provo to Dermont D. and Afton Dixon Wagstaff. She married Jerrold R. Olson Sept. 1, 1948 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. She attended Provo High School in 1946 and attended Brigham Young University for one year. She was a member of the Orem 41st Ward, where, she had served as president of the Primary and den mother. She received a certificate for 20 years of service as a Primary teacher. She also taught in the MIA and was in its presidency, was a dance director, a leader in the Relief Society, a visiting teacher, and was a ward librarian at the time of her death. She was very active in the PTA Survivors include her husband , four sons and two daughters, David Russel Olson, Springville; Mrs. Gaylen (Shelley) Buckley, Sandy; Steven Craig Olson, Kurt Dixon Olson, Denise Olson, Cory Mont Olson, all of Orem; one brother and two sisters, Gary Wagstaff, Mrs. J. Lorus (Norma) Johnson, both of Roy; and Mrs. Blaine (Kathy) Yoreason. Orem. Burial was in the Orem City Cemetery. Chase, secretary of the treasury during Abraham Lincoln's presidency and later chief justice of the U.S. Supreme Court, is on the $10,000 bill. He never went to law school.
