JliiIPiMlSli jar llllll letup Section Two May 5 fund-raiser set I (if Kim Follett, fifth grader, was one of 180 students from Art City Elementary School who recently completed an all night reading marathon. The students had set a goal of reading 25,000 pages. The staff of the school and the parents considered con-sidered the marathon a success-especially when the students exceeded their goal, logging ;!H,(ll)ll pages of reading. Electronics grads have job offers The Musettes will hold their annual scholarship fund raising event Saturday, May 5 in the old Robertson's building, 97 S. Main St. from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Money raised will be used for scholarships for music students from Springville High School. Saturday's activities will include the sale of bazaar items, baked gpods, refreshments and a flea market. Highlight of the day will be a drawing for a handmade quilt. The quilt is currently on display in the window of J.C. Penney's. Margaret Otterson is chairman of the fund raiser and is in charge of the tickets for the quilt drawing. Tickets for the drawing may be obtained from any of the 55 members of the Musettes. The Musettes is a musical group which sings once a month in churches. They have traveled from Ogden to Cedar City performing. Their president is Helen Davis. Musical director is Alberta Hoover. Out of 17 recent graduates in Electronics Technology at Utah Technical College at Provo-Orem, 13 already have jobs of their choice and the remaining four are still considering a variety of offers, according ac-cording to Don James, chairman of the Electronics Elec-tronics Technology Dept. The 17 finished their two-year course with an associate degree at the close of the winter quarter and will receive their diplomas at June commencement unless as Mr. James pointed out, they art out on a job and receive the diploma in absentia as Utah Tech graduates often do. One of the graduates had five job offers, said Mr. James, turned down a $15,000 starting salary offer out of state and took a starting $13,000 position in Utah. Anyone interested should contact him or one of his instructors on the Provo campus of Utah Tech. The Brooklyn was built in 1883. Bridge Scout poster winners named Scouting and community. in the Several Cub and Blazer scouts were recently named winners in a contest to design and make posters to promote the May 5 scout - O -Rama. Posters were judged on content and originality by Bill Jones and Wells Bringhurst. Winners and their age divisions were Brach Schlueter, 9; Ron Todhunter, 8; Kyle Thorn, 10; and Mike Binks, 11. Runners ups for the district were Randy Macomber, Justin Sayer, Kenneth Fisk. Mike Cutler. Brad Johnson, Todd Jex, Keith Kinross, David Rowley, Nathan Hall and Richard Ellis. Three Webelos scouts, (left to right) Jared Lusk, Frank Hatch, and Neal llalfield. recently received the Arrow of Light Award for their activities in Cub scout pack l!12H. Webelos awarded Arrow of Light Three Webelos scouts from Cub scout pack 3128, Springville Eleventh Ward, were presented with the Arrow of Light Award, the highest award in the Cub scout program, on April 26. Recipients were Neal Hatfield, son of Mr. and Mrs. Jerrald C. Hatfield; Frank Hatch, son of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Lister; and Jared Lusk, son of Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Lusk, all of Springville. Jared Lusk and Frank Hatch earned all 15 of the activities badges in the Webelos program, as well as the Webelos Badge and the Faith in God Award. Neal Hatfield earned all but five of the activities badges and his Webelos badge. Republican Party is Kay Thoreson of Orem. Mrs. Thoreson states that she has been oriented to the duties and responsibilities respon-sibilities of the Utah Co. organization in preparation for the 1980 elections. She also states that "there is a great need for citizens to be involved in politics if we want to protect our families, churches, businesses, schools and freedom itself."
