' 1 obituaries Gene C. Merrill Gene Collett Merrill, 51, 597 S. 470 E., Springville, died Feb. 26, 1979, at Utah Valley Hospital of a heart attack. He was born April 22, 1927, in Hayden, Ariz., to Edgar and Pearl Smith Merrill. He married Joan Griffin on Feb. 7, 1957 in Provo. He worked for Union Oil Company in California prior to entering military service, serving four years in the Navy, part of which was in the Pacific during World War II. He them moved to Provo. He worked in Colorado in the mines and had been employed by D&RG Railroad for 17 years. He was a member of the LDS Church, VFW District No. 4, the Railroad Union, and was interested in wood carving, camping and fishing. He had lived in Springville for 12 years. Survivors include his wife, Springville; two sons and two daughters, Robert Allen Merrill, serving on the USS Kilauea; Hilma Colleen Merrill, Springville; Mrs. Jeff (Collett) Miller, Mesa, Ariz.; Stewart Ivan Burnside, Tucson, Ariz.; three grandchildren; four brothers, two sisters, Calvin Merrill, Henderson, Hen-derson, Nev.; William Bruce Merrill, Mesa Ariz. ; Herbert Merrill, Albuquerque, N.M.; Steven Merrill, Sepulveda, Cal.; Mrs. Art (Erma) Fulleger, A jo, Ariz.; Mrs. Belva Slade, Mesa Ariz. Jarvis Eleanor Bearnson Jarvis, 84, died Saturday, Feb. 24, 1979 at the Payson Hospital after a brief illness. She was born Sept. 16, 1894 in Spanish Fork to Finnbegi and Mary Jensen Bearnson. She married William George Jarvis Feb. 28, 1915, in Spanish Fork. The marriage was later solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple. He died May 5, 1952. Survivors include one daughter and one son, ; Thomas B. Jarvis and Mrs. J. Ross (Mary Jane) Nielsen, both of Spanish Fork; 12 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren, two brothers and one sister, Elmer C. Bearnson, Bearn-son, Salt Lake City; John Y. Funeral services were conducted Tuesday at Allen-Gleason Mortuary ' Rialto, California for Ted Neil Jenkins. He died February 15, 1979 at his home in Rialto. . He was born June 29, 1917 in Springville, Utah to Abraham and Rosetta Ostler Jenkins. He married Myrle Johnson, June 11, 1938 at Coalville, Utah. He attended Springville and Provo schools and was active on both football and basketball teams. He also attended Brigham Young University through out his life he was an avid sportsman. In his early life, he and his wife moved to Torrance California where he became a mortician and was of-filiated of-filiated with Stone Mortuary. Later he became an Engineer for the Union Pacific Railroad where he worked for 37 years, having taken his retirement just before his death. Survivors include his wife of Rialto; one daughter and two sons, Mrs. Joseph (Judy) Long and Dennis Jenkins both of San Diego, Courtland Jenkins, Providence,1 Utah; nine grandchildren; grand-children; Two brothers, LaRane Jenkins, Limecula, Calif., Harley Jenkins, Salt Lake City; and a sister Mrs. W. Main St. Her brother lives in Springville. She was born ir Bountiful on Oct. 4, 1919, a daughter to Ray Mann and Christy Jacobsen Hatch. On July 3, 1937 she married Parker M. Jensen in Bountiful. He was a doctor at Utah State Hospital for many years. A daughter lives in Mapleton. He was born Aug. 24, 1900 in Pocatello, Ida., to Horace Wells and Aurice Marie Corey Doty.
