Show club news social events weddings Karen Davies sets wedding date with Bennett Le Baron Mr. and Mrs. Leon Davies of Mapleton announce the coming marriage of their daughter Karen to Bennett LeBaron, son of Mr. and Mrs. Clinton LeBaron of Payson. The couple will marry Friday March 9th in the Provo IDS Temple with a reception that evening from 7 to 9 o'clock in the Mapleton City Building, 35 East Maple, Mapleton. All friends and relatives are invited to attend. The bride-elect is a graduate of Springville High School and LDS Seminary. The prospective bridegroom is a graduate of Payson High and served an LDS mission in Oregon. Grandparents of the bride are Mr. and Mrs. Elgin Oliphant of Orem and Mr. and Mrs. John Lewis Davies, formerly of Provo. Janet and Elaine Davies and Lora LeBaron will serve as bridesmaids, with Harley Hurst as best man. Bridal showers were given by Sharon Lewis and GeAnna Evans and by Joey Harris and Nancy Jolley. The couple will make their first home in Orem. Boyd Smeath, Springville will exchange nuptial vows with Brad Van Ausdal, son of Mr. and Mrs. Norman C. VanAusdal, Spanish Fork, on March 9 in the Provo LDS Temple. A reception will honor them that evening from 7:30 to 10 p.m. at the First-12th Ward in Springville. Miss Smeath graduated from Springville High School where she was on the drill team, a member of a cappella choir, and a senior class off icer. She also graduated from LDS Seminary. She is currently employed in Provo. Mr. VanAusdal is a Spanish Fork High School and LDS Seminary graduate, and has been attending Utah Technical College. He was DECA Club president in Spanish Fork. He is presently working in Provo. Attending the bride will be Jackie Smeath, her sister, as maid of honor, with Tammy Curtis, Nancy Jenkins, Jodi Smeath, another sister, and Brooke VanAusdal, his sister, as bridesmaids, along with Mrs. Susan (Raymond) Felix, another sister, and Mrs. Jeanne (Brad) Smeath, sister-in-law, as bridal attendants. Brett VanAusdal, brother of the bridegroom, will serve as best man. Ushers will be Mike Forsling, Carl Gallegos and Brad West. The bride-elect has been guest of honor at pre-nuptial pre-nuptial showers given by Susan Felix and Jeanne '. Smeath; another by Tammy Curits and Ann Curtis, and one by Donnetta King. A wedding reception hosted by the parents of the bridegroom, Mr. and Mrs. Randall E. Shepherd, honored the couple that evening after their marriage. The groom's mother, Florence W. Shepherd, proved to be an outstanding hostess at the reception. The parents of the bride are Mr. and Mrs. Mark H. Wood of Benjamin. Attending the bride was Mary Anne Wood as maid of honor. Best man duties were taken care of by Jerry E. Shepherd, a brother of the groom. A shower honoring the bride was held on February 10, at the home of Steven and Karalyn Wood, hosted by Margaret Eichler, grandmother of the bride, and Lilly Love. The couple flew their Lear Jet to Nova Scotia to witness the total eclipse of the sun for their honeymoon and will return to make their home in Utah. Miss Utah teen USA pageant entries open Jo Ann Webster Webster-Nielson reception set Announcement is made by Mr. and Mrs. Nelson J. Webster of Mesa, Arizona, of the engagement of their daughter JoAnn Webster of Orem to Mr. Michael Richard Nielson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Earl A. Nielson of Springville. Young Ladies of this area are invited to enter the MISS UTAH TEEN USA PAGEANT to be held at HOTEL UTAH, August 17, 18 and 19, 1979, Salt Lake City, Utah. The Utah Pageant is the Official State Preliminary for the MISS TEEN USA PAGEANT to be held in Albuquerque, New Mexico, in November of 1979. Contestants will judged on Scholastic Achievements, Civic Involvement, Beauty, Poise, Personality, and Patriotic Speech or Talent. No swimsuit competition is involved. Contestants must be between the ages of 14 and 18 as of November 1, 1979, and maintain a "B" or better school grade average. Each Contestant accepted ac-cepted will be required to participate in the VOLUNTEER SERVICE PROGRAM of the MISS TEEN USA PAGEANT. This program teaches teenagers to share and participate in Community, Com-munity, School, and Church activities by contributing at least 12 hours of their time to some worthwhile Civic or Volunteer work to benefit the community. Each Contestant will give a 2-minute 2-minute Patriotic Speech or Talent of their choosing. The Winner of the Utah Pageant will receive an ALL-EXPENSE PAID TRIP to compete in the MISS TEEN USA PAGENANT in Alburquerque, New Mexico, a 1500 Cash Scholarship, and other prizes. Among the prizes that will be awarded at the National Pageant in 1979 is $15,000 in Scholarships and Awards, a 1979 Automobile for the reigning year, $2,000 Personal Appearance Contract, and a $2,000 Wardrobe.
