Saturday's attendance of 219 outnumbered previous high for an open swim session by 111 swimmers. The previous high was set during the five "Holiday Fun Days" between Christmas and New Years. A total of 90 boys, 78 girls, 19 men and 12 women enjoyed the fun and recreation the pool offers. Monday again went over the all-time high since the pool opened December 12. Swimmers for Monday tallied 250 for the day including high school classes swim team and open swims. Attendance of all programs are continually increasing according to Jo Ann De Haas, pool supervisor. The ladies and senior citizens swim is steadily growing in the number of ladies who are coming, she said. "Some come to swim hard and some come to just take hold of a kickboard and float around or just splash around." "But all have remarked of the refreshing feeling and benefit they feel from the exercise they receive." The main change in scheduling has been in combining the ladies swim and the time previously set aside for senior citizens. Combining Com-bining them makes it possible for each to swim on a daily basis. The change has been well received, although there are few male senior citizens taking part. "Holiday Fun Days was a complete success according to reports. Swimmers won free passes by winning races, some went home richer after scrambling during money dives. And each day a good searcher won a key to a lucky locker than contained a sack of candy as the prize. of various types at the pool. A 21-hour advanced lifesaving class was completed Saturday and scheduling of other private, semi-private and classes was postponed until after the first of the year. The staff is now ready to get them into full swing. Applicants will soon be contacted and lesson times set. The staff, including Advanced lifesaving certificates award set Christensen leads scorers The pool staff originally Alan Curtis, director, nianned the event as a Mrs. De Haas, and Mrs continuation of the grand opening, but decided it was so successful that it will be an annual event. Things are just happening, hap-pening, we are so pleased at the response and appreciate ap-preciate the support shown by the community, especially scout groups, mutual classes and other groups, the supervisor said. Susan Tipton, assistant pool supervisor super-visor said, "One of the greatest things, along with the growing attendance, at-tendance, is the interest shown in the Red Cross Swim and Stay Fit 50-mile Swim Club." She said, "So many people have decided it's good incentive to exercise on a regular basis." Efforts are in the planning stages to schedule elementary, middle and junior high school classes in the pool. Details are being arranged and will be announced soon, said Mrs. De Haas. Brigham Young University students may be available and it is hoped swimming instruction in-struction on various skill levels may be offered to the other schools also, she added. Many applications have been received for lessons Tipton, thanks residents for the terrific response to programs offered so far and invites all citizens to try a "dip". The pool is open to the public during the early bird swim from 6:30 to 8 a.m., for ladies and senior citizens from 10:30 a.m. to 12 noon. On week days during these times the pool is less crowded. Burt, Director of the Bureau's Regional Office in Denver, Den-ver, announced today. Certification for completion of advanced lifesaving requirements will be presented to a group of swimmers who finished the course Saturday. The students received instruction and participated par-ticipated in practical demonstrations of rescue procedures, search, artifical respiration, smalj craft safety and emergency first aid.
