It was during the years 1926-27 that "Elder" Jessee "met"' his wife, Minerva Boss, when they both were serving as missionaries in Indiana in the Northern States Mission. A courtship followed Minerva's release from her mission in March of 1928 and that October they were married in the Logan Temple. Following their marriage they moved to Bozeman, Montana for six months, after which they made their move to Springville where they reside today. This couple has always been industrious and hard working. Cornell has trucked milk to the Utah Wasatch Dairy in Provo, trucked coal form Carbon County to Provo, worked for 0. P. Skaggs store in Springville, managed 0. P. Skaggs Store in Bozeman Montana, worked at the Pacific States Pipe Plant for over 10 years, read light meters for Springville City for 18 years, and worked for Geneva Steel Plant for 25 years until his retirement in 1970. They both have been active in the LDS Church and have held many stake and ward postions. At present Cornell is serving as eighth Ward financial clerk while Minerva is Relief Society President. In 1954 both were called on a stake mission. And in 1970 they again accepted a call to serve as a missionary couple in the East Australia Mission. They entered the mission home on October 31 of that year, which was also their 42nd wedding anniversary. an-niversary. The Jessees are the parents of eight children-five children-five boys and three girls, six of whom have lived to maturity. They are: Dean Jessee, Salt Lake City; Mrs. James M. Rawle (Elaine), Springville; Donald Jessee, Orem; Norman Jessee, So. Jordan; Mrs. Michael Bartholomew (Barbara), Springville; and Reed Jessee, Springville. They have 42 grandchildren and 8 greatgrandchildren. great-grandchildren. The children of this couple will pay tribute to their parents on the occasion oc-casion of this their Golden Wedding Anniversary, by hosting a special family gathering held in their honor. Republican women set meet The Utah County Federated Republican Women's organization will hold its next meeting on Monday, November 6, at 1 p.m. in the Eldred Center, 270 West 500 North, Provo. The general public is invited lo hear the Honorable Jake Garn, U. S. Sentaor from Utah. He will summarize the prominent controversial issues of the preceding session of Congress, such as the Panama Canal, ERA, Right-to -work legislation. Senator Garn is one of Mr. and Mrs. Janis E. Jergensens of Salt Lake City announce the engagement of their daughter Daina, to Russell Ray Clark, son of Mr. and Mrs. C. LaMar Clark of Springville. They are planning a wedding on November 21 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple with a reception that same evening in Salt Lake at the home of her parents. On the evening of November 24 his parents will host an open house in the Springville 13th Ward to which all friends and relatives are invited. The bride-to-be is a graduate of Highland High school, has attended U of U and is at present attending at-tending the Brigham Young University. I Russell is a graduate of Springville High School where he was active in sports, especially track, football, basketball. He was on the debate team, drama and school government, being junior class president. He has served a mission in the Brussells-Belgium area and is a graduate of BYU. While at BYU he was active in student government especially UIA and he was also elected to whos who in American Colleges. He is now attending George Washington University in the MPA program and is also employed in Washington D.C. where the young couple plan on living. Aureole Club members hear Cleve Child The Aureole Club Meeting was held Wednesday Wed-nesday night Oct. 18 at the home of Helen Rowland. President Juanita Larabee presided. The pledge of alligiance to the flag was led by Lucile Johnson. The Club Collect was read by Julie Berkhimer. A lovely luncheon was served first to 14 members mem-bers and guests by the hostess assisted by Beulah Davis. The guest speaker was Cleve Childs of Spanish Fork. He was a candidate in the primaries for County Commissioner on the Republican ticket. He was defeated but gave an interesting insight on County government and its problems. Question and answer period was held and a lively discussion followed. Sunbonnet DUP meets Camp Sunbonnet Daughters of Utah Pioneers held their October Oc-tober meeting at the home of Preal York with Reva Stebbins and Crystal Poulsen assisting. Lunch was served to 18 members and guests Geraldine Francis, Valene Roundy, and Reta Kelly. Pledge of allegiance was led by Helene Clark; prayer by chaplain Preal York; history on Joseph P. Kelly, pioneer who homesteaded Kelly's Ranch in Hobble Creek. Canyon (now Kelly's Crove) was given by Mrs. Kelly. She also gave a sketch of the monument erected by the DUP on June 22, 1941, at the gateway to Kelly's Grove and the Hobble Creek Golf Course. Lesson was given by Mary S. Boyer on native pioneer Mary Ellen Cornwall, founder of Cottonwood Maternity Hospital under the direction of Heber J. Grant, and mother of Spencer Cornwall, first music director of the Tabernacle Choir. A history of Mary Ann Carver Geddes who lived in Plain City, Utah.and gave of her means as well as her talents to the community and church, was also given. She was known for her hospitality to strangers and friends. Captain Kathryn Sumsion expressed appreciation ap-preciation to the hostess and those taking part in the meeting. Lucille Khan, the International In-ternational Extension Coordinator from Chicago was the featured speaker. She spoke on the need to organize clubs in other countries where there are no clubs presently. Women everywhere want to serve. Our clubs need to be attracting favorable attention in the communities com-munities that we live and work in. Our service projects must be worthwhile wor-thwhile and affect large numbers of people. We must scrutinize our own activities and meetings to determine whether our own club is an attractive advertisement for Altrusa. We have to realize that each of us contributes to the overall image of Altrusa. Each member is a walking Altrusa image. We attract at-tract todays enthusiastic women who want to serve. We must project the image we want to attract. Gains or losses in membership are directly related to clubs projects. The business session dealt with the subject of "Expanding Altrusa's Image by expanding 1. our service and public relations; 2. by means of more international projects; 3. by enlisting growth, iniation, orientation orien-tation and communication; com-munication; 4. by developing leadership through parlimentary procedure.
