VISA "Mb J Hi Open letter Ditch clean project irritates For six years I have mowed and manicured the section of irrigation ditch running behind my property. I have also seen that the flow of water is running unobstructed. I do not benefit from this water. I feel though, that it not only increases the value of my property but helps to eliminate many bugs and mosquitoes, if I take care of it. For the same six years the Springville Water Users have piled gar-, bage, rock and dirt against my fence, bending ben-ding it and generally making an eyesore of the entire section behind my property. The only thing they have accomplished in doing this is to make the ditch wider. I talked to some of the farmers and tried to explain that I was taking care of this section of ditchline and would see to it that their irrigation water would flow free. Also if they would compare com-pare my section with that of my neighbors they would see that this was true. My talking had no affect. Next I tried the water master. I received nothing but abusive language. The head of the water users agreed with me and felt I was taking more than ample care of said section of ditchline. Still, things did not change. The problem is worse. I believe spite has taken over. What is a conscientious citizen to do? Ardath K. HSb W Reader tells of abortion In an article printed in the Deseret News 1973 entitled "The Regretful Japanese" the facts were brought by a Japanese Doctor to the Medical World News Nov. 9, 1973 to doctors from nearly 50 nations that since Japan had had liberal abortion laws for 25 years many bad effects had come from it. Legalized abortions were not found much safer and 16 serious effects plus sterility were some of the problems. It has become a way of life, and morality is very low. There are not enough young people to take care of the old and euthanasia is foreseeable. In 1972, 1.5 million abortions were performed and is increasing. in-creasing. Russia likewise is finding a plunging birthrate bir-thrate is reducing the potential for growth of work force, the economy, and threat to the survival of their nation, from recent article from the news media. In other words a reduction of birthrate is bad in socialist countries, but it is good in capitalist countries! We will no longer be able to feed the world, and our economy to grow if we liberalize abortions and give our government controls over farming, and other bureaucratic controls. It has been said abortions are worse than murder. If you consider the millions of babies lives taken now, how wicked does thes make our nation? L.J.
