MANILA BROWN Correspondent Phone 22S-W j An especially enjoyable meeting meet-ing of the Jeune Mere club was held Wednesday night at the home of Mrs. Fiorence Nelson. A delicious tray luncheon was Served Serv-ed early in the evening - followed by a program on opera and opera composers. Mrs. Marie Whiting gave stories of the operas "Faust," "II Trovatore," "La Boheme," "Aida" and "Mikado." "Mik-ado." Mrs. True Clyde gave a sketch of the lives of the various composers. Miss Thora Whiting entertained with vocal selections from the operas accompanied by Mrs. Mary- Bird, who also gave piano music arranged from the operas. Those present included Mrs. Mamie Black, Fern Nelson, Olive Bray, Thora Whiting, Mary Bird, guests, and Mrs. Madelyn Dis-pain, Dis-pain, Mrs. Florence Allen, Mrs. True Clyde, Mrs. Edna Clyde, Mrs. Maurine Haymond, Mrs. Naomi Thorn, Mrs. Lucille Childs. Mrs. Gweneth Thorn. Mrs. Mabel Wright, Mrs. Beth Jensen, Mrs. Marie Whiting, members. Mr. and Mrs. John Lowe of Gaggs, Wyo., are visiting Mr. and Mrs. Arvil Ence and other relatives and friends in Spring-ville. Spring-ville. An enjoyable Christmas party was given last Monday evening at the home of Mrs. Mary Smart for the M. I. A. Beehive leaders of the various wards in Kolob stake. Approximately 20 ladies were in attendance, and enjoyed games in correlation with their Beehive work. In conclusion a dainty lunch was served and Christmas gifts were excnanged among those present. The Builders Build-ers group of leaders had the en-entertainment en-entertainment in charge. Mrs. Josephine R. Dougaif left Friday for ' St. Louis, Mo.., to join her husband. Dr. Mack Dougall. who is taking his interne in-terne work in that city. Mrs. Dougall has been visiting her mother, Mrs. H. T. Reynolds Sr., and other relatives and friends in Springville s nce late summer. Members, of the Ladies' Literary Liter-ary club were entertained Thursday Thurs-day evening at their annual Christmas party, at the home of Mrs. Manilla Brown. Luncheon ivas served at .'.mall tables at 8 o'clock after which progressive Neighbor was played. Mrs. Elizabeth Eliza-beth Salisbury received high score prize. The singing: mothers of the Relief Society will form the chorus under un-der the direction of Mrs. Margaret Mar-garet Pulsipher and Mrs. Cordelia Booth. All members of the ward and friends are invited to attend. Mrs. Loia Wiscomb and Mrs. Loleta Dixon were hostesses to Edgemont camp, Daughters of Utah Pioneers, at tb.e Wiscomb home Thursday afternoon, with Captain Ossa Ferguson in charge. The following songs were rendered under the direction of Chorister Susa Smith, with Organist Margaret Mar-garet Pulsipher at the piano, "Ode to the Pioneers," "Rock a Bye Baby," and "Silver Threads Among the Gold." Prayers were offered by Chaplin Dora Cluff. Parliamentarian Loleta Dixon spoke on the by laws and constitution con-stitution of the organization and the lesson, "The Other Mothers" was given by Classleader Florence Flor-ence Chamberlain. A duet, "On the Mississippi" was given by Nadine Davis and Lois Dixon, with Miss Dixon at the piano. A dainty luncheon was served at small tables, with Christmas favors being be-ing presented to Mesdames Constance Con-stance Bott, Mae Wiscomb, Francis Fran-cis Hansen and Jean Guyman, guests and Mesdames Ossa Ferguson. Between the acts Miss Melba Mendenhall read "The Overworked Elecutionist." The program was under the direction of the M I. A. with President Effie Pinegar in charge. A fine Christmas party wari enjoyed by members of the Edgemont Edge-mont Literary club at the home of Mrs. James E. Pinegar on Friday Fri-day afternoon, with Mrs. Allen Stewart in charge. Clever content con-tent games were played, led by Mrs. Pinegar. assisted by Mrs. Ed. Pinegar of Spanish Fork, Mrs Allen Stewart receiving the favor.
