The Bulldogs found Bingham stubborn to the last ditch, but superior shooting and the advantage advant-age of getting six more foul tosses than their opponents provided the margn of victory. Bingham appeared ap-peared keyed slightly too high, and the Smelterites committed 21 fouls. Provo converted 10 charity char-ity pitches into point Bingham rolled in five points in the first quarter while Provo was scoring two. Wes Ca,Tter led a Provo rally in the second stanza that put the local ahead, 10-8 at half-time. After that it was a dogged battle, with the Bulldogs clinging tenaciously to their lead. The third-quarter score was 15-14. Carter tallied but three field goals, but made seven out of elev en foul pitches, gaining high-poi'nt high-poi'nt honors with 13. Bud Eg-gertsen Eg-gertsen played his usual good rustling rust-ling game, although he was held scoreless from the field. Gordon Mitchell and Bob Johnson turned in good performances on the guard line. For Bingham, Pollick, center, led the scoring with seven points. Tregaskis, substitute guard, garnered garn-ered six. The score: BINGHAM G -T. F. P. Winter Is Playtime In case you haven't been bitten by the bug as yet, winter time means snow time, and snow time means play time in a big sort of way. If you take the word of Provoans Pro-voans who make it a business to follow sporting trends, the season sea-son of 1937-38 will be the biggest in winter sports history in Utah county as well as throughout the world. You have only to take a peek at the. local department and Sporting Sport-ing goods stores, harken to the talk of "snow trains" buzzing about the city, and see the number num-ber of outdoor enthusiasts taking tak-ing lessons from "experts" at skiing, ski-ing, slaloming, and tobogganing. Then you'll be convinced. Ice skating already has proved popular among tie "dead" water areas of Provo river. Every Sunday Sun-day for the past few weeks crowds have gathered at Wildwood and Vivian park to enjoy an afternoon of spills and thrills. A few Provoans Pro-voans have proved excellent figure fig-ure skaters already. T' Eagles Plan Ski Trip, Dec. 27 Approximately fifteen members of the Y Eagles, organization composed of eagle scouts of Brig-ham Brig-ham Young university, will start on its annual ski trip December 27, according to co-chairmen Joseph Jos-eph Pace, Provo, president of the club, and Jay Olsen, Provo. They will leave from in front of the Education building of B. Y. U. for Aspen Grove, where they will spend three days, returning return-ing December 29. Castilla Springs Site Is Excellent Cooperation of the Denver and Rio Grande Western railroad towards to-wards making the historic Castilla Cas-tilla Springs region in Spanish Fork canyon a winter sports mecca is being undertaken in the winter sports program of the Junior chamber of commerce. Oscar Carlson, Provo sportsman, sports-man, declares the Castilla site is an excellent one for ski jumping, slaloming and other sporting events. The Natural mineral, water wa-ter at Castilla, its plunge, and accessability also add to its possibilities pos-sibilities as a sports mecca it is stated. Scotland, Dec. 18 (UR)--Lord Tweedsmuir, governor gover-nor general of Canada, was elected elect-ed chancellor of Edinburgh university uni-versity today, succeeding the late Sir James Matthew Barrie. Nor is your winter sports ac- Bul-j tivity an expensive pastime. Skis i are cheaper than most people imagine. It's the patience to learn which perhaps comes a little more higher priced. You won't be a slalom champion your first yeai out. Nor had you better attempt a 100 foot jump.
