Bucher of New Martinsville A West Virginia, took place Thursday evening in the Salt Lake temple. David O. McKay, member of the first presidency, officiated, 'the ceremony being witnessed by Mrs. Sowards, mother of the bride; John . E. Hayes and Charles Char-les Haggerty. Dinner was enjoyed in Salt Lake after the ceremony. Mr. and Mrs. Bucher are residing re-siding in Provo, and Mr. Bucher Is continuing with his studies at the B. Y. U. As they entered a male quartet from the B. Y. U. entertained with beautiful music and lovely red rosebuds were presented the ladies in the cloak room by the Misses ; Marjorie. Helen and Ethel Clark. , and Helen and Lucile Robinson. The affair was formal for the ladies. The two long banquet tables were artistic with centerpieces of red rosi-s. carnations, smilax white asters and fern, and with Pres. F. S. Harris and V. Lester Mangum. as typical French waiters, wait-ers, the merriment continued. A group photograph was taken. Mr. Robinson presided and the following humorous program was furnished: Story by the author. Prof. H .R. Merrill: demonstration demonstra-tion of fanc y roller skating, in costume, Bishop R J. Murdock; trombone solo. J William Knight; Divine Right ,f Queens,", or rhymes without rhythm. J. Rob ert Robinson; male quartet, Joseph Jos-eph C. Clark. Jacob Coleman, Dr. Christen Jensen and W. Monroe Paxman; "Tale of Two Sisters." Wells L. Brimhall; dramatic readings read-ings in costume, one serious and one humorous, J. Robert Robinson; Robin-son; "My Experiences in the Army," J. William Knight; recitation recit-ation in dialect, Jacob Coleman; piano solo, jazz and classical mu sic. Dr. Christen Jensen. Sides were chosen for competitive competi-tive games, indulged in only by the ladies Mr. F. S. Harris, president presi-dent of group, and Mrs. J. Robert i Robinson, vice president, were captains, and questions were fired at the contestants from all sides. I Prof. Merrill was judge and Mrs. I Harris' group won the three- pound box of candy. In the j "right pronunciation of words" j contest. Mrs. R. J. Murdock was winner, and she received a fine manicure set. Responses were made by the guests, E L. Roberts of Los Angeles. An-geles. Christmas Party For Club Group The Misses Leona Beveridge and Bessie Stevens entertained at a Christmas party Friday evening at the home of the former. The rooms were decorated in true Chr.Htmas fashion. and a large tree stood in the corner. Lovely gifts were exchanged. A delicious luncheon was served serv-ed to: Beth Carlson, Virginia Bo-shard. Mr. and Mrs. McAvoy Craner wish to announce the engagement engage-ment of their daughter, Zola, to Delbert Wood, son of Mr. and Mrs. James Wood of Salt Lake City. The marriage will take place Tuesday, Dec. 21, in the Salt Lake temple, and the young couple will make their home in Salt Lake City. Miss Craner is a graduate of the Provo high school. -- a. Fountain Green Ladies Meet The Fountain Green Ladies' club met at the home of Mrs. L. C. Johnson Friday afternoon, an enjoyable en-joyable time being spent with so cial chat, music and a delicious luncheon. In attendance were: Mrs. Julia Knudsen. Mrs. Delia Angell, Mrs. Esther Jackson, Mrs. Hattie Car ter, Mrs. Eliza Jackson. Mrs. Johanna Jacobsen and Mrs. Lottie Bigler. The table was arranged with colorful Christmas motifs, and favors were given. Shower Given For Daughter In compliment to her daughter, Theresa, who is soon to be wed, Mrs. Vernard Anderson was hostess hos-tess at a delightful shower Thursday evening at her home for neighbors and friends of the family, fami-ly, and on Friday evening, she entertained a group of young friends. 9 Mrs. Byron Denhalter Jed In the games at Thursday's affaJr, Mrs. Benjamin .; H. Knudsen winning win-ning the favor. A delicious hot luncheon was served to 35 guests, following which the bride-elect was showered with numerous lovely gifts. At Friday's party, four tables of 'cootie" were played, Miss Veda Hicks receiving the high score prtee and MlS3 Edith Smith of Payson, the consolation award. A tasty hot luncheon was enjoyed by the 20 guests, and beautiful and useful gifts were presented to Miss Anderson. Christmas Party Given Friends Mrs. J. J. Nusink entertained the Optimist club members at their annual Christmas party, Thursday afternoon, at her home. Mrs. Bert Huish was a guest and the following members were present: Mrs. Ella Whittaker, Mrs. John Lundahl, Mrs. Charles Scott, Mrs. Leo Mecham, Mrs. Clara Sutherland, Mrs. Harvey Higgins, Mrs. S. T. Lamb, Mrs. Harold G. Clark, Mrs. George H. Carter and Mrs. E. G. Durnell. . Five hundred was played, Mrs. Huish and Mrs. Whittaker re ceiving the favors. The rooms were artistically arranged with Christmas decorations, and lovely gifts were exchanged. A delicious delici-ous dinner was served. Early Appearance Of Santa Claus Mr. and Mrs. El ward P. Carter tendered a lively pre-Christmas family party Saturday evening at their home, the occasion being the birthday anniversaryof their son, Wesley Carter. In attendance were: Mr. and Mrs. E- Levon Carter and family, Miss Angela Carter. Wesley Carter, Car-ter, Mr. and Mrs. Edward F. Carter. Car-ter. Jr., Miss Mildred Mower, Mr. and Mrs. George Bills of Provo, Mr. and Mrs. Blake Carter and family of Springville, and Mr. and Mrs. Victor Smith and family of Lehi. x The rooms were decorated with a large Christmas tree, ,gay with colored lights and ornaments, as well as other motifs being arranged arrang-ed around the room. Mr. and Mrs. Santa Claus made their appearance appear-ance and gifts were presented. Christmas songs were sung, games played and a jolly evening spent. Farewell Party Is Tendered Miss Elaine Bott gave a delightful de-lightful birthday going away surprise sur-prise shower at her home Thursday Thurs-day evening, for Lynn Nelson, who is soon to leave for the Canadian Cana-dian mtesion of the L. D. S. church. Games were played and prizes won by Mildred Nielsen, Lynn Nelson, Ferron Nielson and Faye Jones. A delicious luncheon was served by Mrs. Andrew Nelson, Mrs. Marie Bott and Mrs. Jasper Jas-per Snow, to the following: Serena Ser-ena Whipple, Mildred Nielson. Doran Johnson, Bernice Nelson, Edna Peterson, Clayton Liddiard, Faye Jones. Robert Thomas, Fawn Jones, Ferron Nielson, Bert-Olsen, Bert-Olsen, Effie Anderson, Curtis Johnson, Roene Curtis, Oral Butler, But-ler, Robert Booke and Ivan Nelson. Nel-son. Many useful and beautiful gifts were received. Local Talent Is Featured at Party Among the Christmas socials of note, was the affair held by the Creative Fine Arts group. A. L. R. chapter No. 12, for their husbands. Friday evening at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. Victor J. Birds. An interesting program, featuring featur-ing the work of local writers, was enjoyed. A poem, "A Savior And A King," written by Thelma Cox, was read by Mrs. Maurine Bryer, and a string quartet, comprising com-prising Vivia Davies, Maurine Van Cott, Kathryn . Morrell and Calvin Boswell played, "Ingenue." by Miss Davies. A story. "The Unmasking of Santa Claus." written by Mrs. Ida Powell Brown, was read by the author, after which Ferris Edgley sang, "The Holy City." accompanied by Mrs. Ruth Rich-an. Rich-an. A double duet. "O Natal Night," words by Mrs. Mildred Hall, was sung by Mrs. Leah Wheeler. Mrs. Hazel Stubbs, Mrs. Nell Bullock and Mrs. Effie Clark, accompanied by Mrs. Hall. Mrs. Ida P. Brown read a number of her selections. Christmas decorations .were all about, and particularly attractive were the miniature show scenes on the buffet, and the manger scene on the radio. Delicious refreshments refresh-ments were served to 30 guests by the committee: Mrs. Montez Harding, chairman; Mrs. Belle Fillmore, Mrs. Anna Taylor. Mrs. Ida Brown and Mrs. Florence Lambert..
