He was the son of Eldon Caldwell and Melva Dot Cook Caldwell. Roy was born April 1, 1940, in Vernal, where he was raised and attended school. He went into the U.S. Army in 1963. He spent three years in Germany as a medic; he was honorably discharged on Feb. 28, 1969. Roy enjoyed hunting, fishing and playing music with his family; fam-ily; he was truly loved and will be greatly missed. He is survived by wife, Jean, of Midvale; brother, Norman Caldwell of Vernal; sister, Bonnie Bon-nie (Don) Wall of Casper, Wyo.; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by grandparents and parents. Services were June 23 at the Maeser 5th Ward LDS Chapel. Interment was in the Maeser Fairview Cemetery under the direction of Blackburn Vernal Mortuary. Military honors provided pro-vided by the American Legion Post 124 and 11. Vicky McCord Vicky Ann McCord, age 59, passed away June 15, 2008 from a long illness. She was born June 26, 1959 in Price to Thomas Charles and Gilda Smuin Hammond-Vicky grew up in Jenson. After high school she moved to southern California where she did some modeling. After leaving southern California she moved to Grass Valley, Calif., and from there to VernaL Vicky was an amazing lady with many talents. She loved nature and worked in a flower shop in Reno, Nev., which she enjoyed very much. For the rest of her life she loved her house plants and her yard. She was very much in touch with nature. She also loved poetry and many . times would spend hours if not longer wri ting. Some of her work was published in "A Symphony of Verse," "Outstanding Poets of 1998" andfour times in "Celebration "Celebra-tion of Poets." ' J t ;;' l White Ba Only 543 North Vernal Avenua I " ' ( r 789-3241 Jackie Wayne Holmes, 65, passed away June 17, 2008, at Ashley Regional Medical Center, suddenly from a heart attack surrounded by his family. He was born on Dec. 11, 1942, in "frogtown" Vernal to Cecil and Fern Holmes. He married his sweetheart Sue on July 20, 1963, in Vernal. Jack worked many jobs in the oilfield for most of his life. He was respected for his knowledge and willingness to help when called. He was also known for his teasing and joking personality. He was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandpa and took great pride in his grandchildren. He enjoyed spending time with his family, camping, hunting and riding his horses. He never met a person that he didn't stop and talk to or help if needed. He could fix or build just about anything and was always there for everyone whenever they needed something. He has left a huge hole in our hearts and we will miss him forever. He is preceded in death by father, Cecil Holmes; mother, Fern Holmes; and sister, Enid Lawson. He is survived by wife, Sue; daughters, Jana (Kreg) Augustus of Vernal; Janine (Mark) Boren of Vernal; and Jentry (Matt) Cranford of Rock Springs, Wyo.; grandchildren, Gray (Kari) Augustus, Au-gustus, Dalton Augustus, Jesse K'4 1 great at both. She is survived by mother, Gilda Boren; son, Justin Jacob-sen Jacob-sen of Vernal; sister, Charlene Chavez of Grass Valley, Calif; brother, Roger Gardner of St. George; step-sister, Thea Pit-tmon Pit-tmon of Mesquite, Nev. She is preceded in death by father, Charles Hammond; and step-sister, Bonnie Wilkens. Graveside Services were June 20 with Bishop Scott Sowards conducting. The family prayer was given by Chuck Barker, followed fol-lowed by remarks from Chuck Barker, followed by speaker Kreg Augustus. This was then followed by a Tribute poem entitled en-titled "Dad" written and given by Janine Boren. This was followed by a musical recording of Jack's favorite song titled "TUFF" by Ace Cannon. The benediction was then given by Taylor Calder and Chuck Barker offered the dedication. Pallbearers were Kreg Augustus, Gray Augustus, Dalton Augustus, Augus-tus, Mark Boren, Ken Holmes and Jim Allen. Honorary pallbearers pall-bearers were Brett Hendricks, Scott Slaugh, Jeff Slaugh, Shane Jackson, Chuck Barker, Taylor Calder, Brendan Cranford, Brandon Bran-don Brackett, Chancy Olson, Kirk Harrisn, Cloyd Holmes and Scott Holmes. Compassionate services were provided by the Maeser 7th LDS Ward Relief Society. So-ciety. John still plants corn, pumpkins, cucumbers, melons, cabbage, cab-bage, beans, carrots, "every kind" of tomato, onions and a variety of peppers. Even though John heard that you shouldn't plant more garden than your wife can weed, he did not pay much attention. He says that he loves the gardening part more than the eating part of raising a garden. His advice: if you weed more now there will be much less weeding later. We caught John out among his plants talking to them and his dog Maya for therapeutic reasons.
