IT'S A BAKED SALMON. ) I Thought instead op j HAVING TURKEY FOR. THANKSGIVING Wl WOULD' .HAVE BAKED SALMON A10 Wednesday, November 15, 2006 I Y I HAVE BAKED SALMftW ' J5 V Instructions to Victors Dear Editor, This is my instructions to victors especially Orrin Hatch. We cannot believe you are naive about what has been going on; so: 1. Stop Zionists in Israel and America from dictating American foreign policy. We Americans are capable of making mak-ing our own decision through some, but not all, of our elected elect-ed representatives. We do not need the Jewish Institute for National Security Affairs deciding decid-ing this for us. We did not elect Richard Perle, William Kristol, Deputy Secretary of Defense Paul Wolfowitz and others who have regarded America for years as a "strategic asset" in the subjugation of Iraq, then Iran, Syria and Lebanon to the will of Israel. Kristol has caused enough trouble as the most important strategist strate-gist in the bush Republican Party. President Jimmy Carter is now being attacked by the J.I.N.S.C. for his chastisement of Israel and its trouble-making in the Mideast but we won't hear about this in the major news media controlled by the Zionists. 2. Invite Steven Jones, professor pro-fessor of physics, and William Rodriguez, maintenance engineer, engi-neer, to testify in Congress what they know about the planting of thermite around the steel girders several stories sto-ries below ground level in the World Trade Center buildings in New York and explosions heard underground shortly before airplanes penetrated the building far above ground. You, of course, know that steel girders require a temperature of 5,000 degrees F. to be melted and could not have been melted by airplane-fueled fire. On June 3, 1997, Donald Rumsfeld, Dick Cheney, Paul Wolfowitz and others signed their names to a "statement of principles" issued by Kristol's organization setting forth the goal of building up American military might to ensure that the United States could pursue pur-sue global hegemony. A design for this, dated September 2000, by Kristol's Project for the New American Century, entitled enti-tled "Rebuilding America's Defenses; Strategies, Forces and Resources for a New Century," presented a plan for the United States to take military control of the Gulf region "whether Saddam Hussein was in power or not." To fulfill this plan, Kristol, Rumsfeld, Cheney, Wolfowitz and others concluded "The process of transformation is likely to be a long one, absent some catastrophic and catalyzing catalyz-ing event like a new Pearl Harbor." It appears, would you agree, that the tragic September 11, 2001 event was the "new Pearl Harbor" that brought the massive arms buildup accompanied accom-panied by the manufactured "war on terrorism" and its consequences con-sequences such as the "Patriot Act." There are accusations that Israel's Mossad orchestrated orches-trated this with support from our C.I.A. What can you tell us about this? There were about 1,400 people peo-ple greeting Bush, Rumsfeld and Rice in Salt Lake City early in August but almost 4,000 demonstrators for peace. I was pleased to see how many were knowledgeable about what is going on, judging by the many articulate posters and comments com-ments made to me by speakers and attendees. My poster reading, read-ing, "Fear, Greed and War by the Spiritually Bankrupt Invite Terrorism," brought many agreeable comments, a professor profes-sor of political science made a recommendation that we bring 10,000 poor young men and women to America from the Gulf countries for a complete education of a practical nature, then return them as ambassadors ambassa-dors of goodwill better able to serve their countries than to be Jihad terrorists. Isn't this better than using the alligator part of our brains to wage war and much cheaper? 3. Enforce the Sherman Anti-Trust Law and restore regulations that will put a stop to the arrogant greed of big American corporations, particularly par-ticularly the pharmaceutical industry (which spends the most in lobbying Congress). The BushRepublican brand of socialism does not benefit ordinary American taxpayer citizens as it does big non-taxed non-taxed corporation CEO's who have succeeded putting into government offices people who have ignored or changed regulations to benefit only themselves. Contrived wars, of course, benefit them. America for years has sold more armaments arma-ments overseas than all other nations combined. A peculiar "war on terrorism with "weapons "weap-ons of mass destruction," isn't this? Halliburton, with our tax money, has built fourteen forts in Iraq. A peculiar, primitive form of love for our fellowman, isn't it? Garth Harrison, M.S.W. Vernal Training for crisis counselors Dear Editor, On Oct. 30th, the Vernal City Police Department and Victim Advocacy Program hosted a 40-hour, five day, training for future Rape Crisis Counselors. The training was sponsored by the Utah Coalition Against Sexual Assault. I would like to thank all those who helped make the training such a huge success. Special thanks to Rachel Jenkins who traveled from Salt Lake City to teach the ten participants. I would also like to thank Dr. Brooksbie, Lynne Gagon, Paul Dewitt, Dylan Rooks, Holly Dick, and Marcy Young for sharing their knowledge knowl-edge in responding to sexual assault. Special thanks to the participants par-ticipants who made the training train-ing worthwhile. This was the second annual training and participation tripled last year's numbers. Special thanks to Smith's Food and Drug and Davis Jubilee for providing breakfast for all five days of training. As many of you know, attention atten-tion to responding and treating treat-ing sexual assault victims has come into the public view recently, and this training provided pro-vided a huge step in the way our community does just that. I've had the chance to interact with citizens of our community who really do care what happens hap-pens to sexual assault victims. We should all be proud to have such caring concerned people among us. Sincerely, Joy L. Jenkins Victim Advocate Lost billfold Dear Editor, A dropped billfold or lost purse should have you calling credit card companies, banks, etc. I didn't even know mine was missing. I did go to town, did my business and went home. Just a few minutes after I got home, there was a knock on the door. This young man was standing there and said, "I believe this is your wallet" It was. I didn't get bis name. So I hope he reads this. Thank you again so much. Jim Marshall Vernal What is a hero? Dear Editor, There are many definitions for a "Hero." There are probably prob-ably many living right here in Vernal. There is one "Hero" I would like everyone to recognize, rec-ognize, her name is Debbie Pummell. This remarkable lady has been battling cancer for over five years now. She may not be a fireman who runs into burning buildings, a policeman, or a soldier fighting in Iraq, but she pulls herself out of hell every day to face a personal battle. She was diagnosed on Sept. 11, 2001 with breast cancer; it spread to her lungs, after that it was found in her brain and now it has shown up in her spine. She has suffered through chemotherapy and radiation, she has lost her beautiful hair several times, she has had her body poked, cut, prodded and damaged by the very drugs that are saving her life. She takes an arsenal of medications that make a meal in and of themselves. them-selves. There have been more needles, procedures, doctors and specialists in this five years than most see in a lifetime. The miles traveled between Vernal and Salt Lake are more than anyone dares figure. I can't imagine the strength it takes to wake every day to an all out assault on your body. She has never had the 'why me' attitude, nor has she had self pity. The courage and integrity this woman has shown throughout through-out this battle has begji amazing. amaz-ing. Those that know her are not surprised because we know the inner strength she has, we are simply proud. She has maintained a positive posi-tive attitude. She is funny, upbeat, outgoing and open. It amazes me how much concern she shows for other people that have illness or problems in town, many of their problems are so minimal compared to hers. The fear, the inconvenience, inconve-nience, the all out disruption to a young mother and wive's life is enough to make you want to scream, but she doesn't; she just deals with it and moves on. It has become part of her life and she is "LIVING" with it. She has a wonderful husband hus-band who has been a rock for her to rest on. He has been there throughout it all. He has laughed with her, he has cried with her. He has been to her what I would hope all husbands would be to their wives; kind, loving, helpful, brave and educated edu-cated on her illness. He has been funny when she needs a laugh, he has been gentle when she needs peace, he has been firm when she needs to lean. He has been her "Sweetheart" for their whole lives and it has only gotten better. This is also heroic. This strong couple have four children ages 8 to 19. These children have an undying love and loyalty to their mother. The gentleness and affection they show her is beautiful. They are a big help to her and are kids to be proud of. She has had a wonderful won-derful support system through her extended family. I just want to say that I watch her and am inspired to be a better bet-ter person and live a better life. This wonderful person has taught me that it doesn't matter mat-ter what comes at you as long as you love your family, they love you, and you love yourself enough to never give in. The battle between life and death will end for everyone of us some day; it's how we endured the battle that will be remembered. There are many people in our community going through some of the same things; you are all "Heroes." Your light shines brightly in this world, Debbie! I love you my friend. Your friend, Angie Mackay YEEOW. Saddam's Revenge By Bill O'Reilly At the moment the hangman's hang-man's noose tightens around Saddam Hussein's shriveled neck, he can take solace in one major unintended consequence conse-quence of his defeat by coalition coali-tion forces: America and the Bush administration have suffered suf-fered enormously in the wake of Saddam's overthrow. Every exit poll last Tuesday said the same thing: Most Americans do not believe the Iraq conflict is good for the country. Some believe our military mil-itary action was immoral, but most simply want victory, not; stalemate, in Iraq. The thinking behind that lies in the deep respect most Americans have for the U.S. military. I mean, who in their right mind wants to see soldiers sol-diers and marines killed and maimed for a campaign that is still chaotic after three and a half years? Left-wing loons aside, clear thinking Americans are willing to accept war if the violence is justified and benefits the country. But this Iraq deal remains unresolved, unre-solved, and there is little good news coming out of Baghdad. As I mentioned in this space a few week ago, the Iraqi people have not stepped up to control the terrorists iin their midst. It does not take three UT M4MPIPIEIMIEIE) URU (UHTAIHI T. WE'LL ALL SALMON ELLA KWMW 1 1 1 ii. i m..m.i WJ P' "I Bill O'Reilly years to train a national police force or even a standing army for that matter. Corruption and religious hatred is rife in Iraq. A country that was deemed "secular"and desiring of freedom by U.S. intelligence has turned out to be a place of ancient hatreds and incredible, mindless violence. You don't see Muslims of Afghanistan, as primitive as that county is, drilling holes in each other's heads and forming roving death squads. At least the Afghanis are giving democracy democ-racy a chance by not embracing embrac-ing the Taliban uprising coming com-ing out of Pakistan, or protecting protect-ing homicide bombers who can paralze any free society. But millions of Iraqis are either too afraid or to apathetic to join their countrymen who simply want to live in peace and freedom. How many hateful hate-ful Iraqi Mullahs are orderng their brainwashed minions to kill innocent people? How - s i GET many crooked cops and military mili-tary people are creating fear and loathing by committing loathsome crimes? There is no army in the world that can impose democracy democ-racy or any other kind of government gov-ernment on an unwilling population. popu-lation. Remember, the Soviets brutalized Afghanistan using hundres of thousands of troops and a ruthless secret police, but could not make communism commu-nism acceptable there. So the Bush administration is caught in a situation that once looked like a "slam dunk," to use former CIA Director George Tenet's phrase, but has now evolved into an election-turning election-turning debacle. However, a bad situation could rapidly become worse if ideologically crazed politicians implement policies that give the terrorists a major victory. Remember, Iraq is a stalemate, not a defeat. The terrorists can strut around all they want, but Saddam is facing the gallows and Iran is not controlling the Gulf oil flow-at least not yet. President Bush is correct when he says that Iraq is now the central battlefield in the war on terror. And the demise of Donald Rumsfeld finally signals sig-nals that a new strategy might be on the horizon. All Americans should hope so. Fighting Islamic facism is the most important issue in the world today. We'll now see if the Democrats have a better idea as how to do that. |
