Seven coats for seven years While most seven-year-olds are counting the number of presents they got at their party, Sandy Rassmussen was counting the coats her friends brought in lieu of gifts. Said her mom, Jan, "she had a friend who had a party and didn't do gifts because she gets a lot from her family. So we got the idea from there, but wanted to ask people to bring coats to donate. She thought it was a good idea to give something to someone else." "I really liked bringing coats instead of presents," said Sandy. "There are kids who need coats in this kind of weather." After the party Sandy and her mom took the coats down to Perry Insurance, where they were collecting items for Coats for Kids. Sandy turned seven and was able to collect and donate seven coats. "She was really proud when she took the coats there. It was a good experience expe-rience to give," said her mom Jan. Because you can. I $ " ' Why should you become a foster parent?
