Show A6 Wednesday, October 25, 2006 .Vernal Exoress. AVMC receives donation from Scouts On Wednesday, Oct. 18, Cub Scout Pack 1037 presented its service project to Ashley Valley Medical Center. Each of the boys had put together a gift bag to be given to a child who is treated in the Emergency Room. The boys and their leaders lead-ers presented the bags to the nursing staff in the ER. Pack 1037 is the community Cub Scout Pack that meets weekly in the Vernal Elks Lodge. They range in age from seven to 11. Their Cubmaster is Gloria Fox. "The boys each earned their own money to buy the gifts in the gift bags," explained Ms. Fox. "And they did their own shopping with the money they earned. It was very satisfying for them to do something for children who may be hurt or ill." The boys stated that they had been given chores at home .uii.1.1 i.i J J ' -'4MWWBiMMaT.l iii i'', i rr a " -lwr-i .MM I i 1 lit' l I ei. i m I a V -i LM'A f LA sr UHS graduate becomes a part of student senate Cub Scout Pack 1037 presented gift bags to Emergency Room staff for children who are treated there. by their mothers and that is "I took out the trash," stated my mother with the dishes," how they earned their money, one Cub Scout. The new machine can see up to 30 percent per-cent more breast tissue. This year AVMC added CAD (Computer Aided Detection) to the Mammography system. The CAD software will highlight high-light areas of concern on your mammogram and alert the radiologist, providing you with two readings of your mammogram. mammo-gram. This month, in honor of National Breast Cancer Awareness, AVMC has added a new comfort feature called the MammoPad. The MammoPad is placed on the machine to provide comfort com-fort to the patient and to assist with viewing more breast tissue. tis-sue. Studies have shown that when using the MammoPad, an average of 0.6 cm of additional addi-tional tissue was acquired on the mammogram. The pads are a one time use pad, and will be changed for each patient. "Our goal for mammography mammogra-phy is to see as much of the breast tissue as possible and provide the most comfort for the patient," said Jeff Hanbern, Director of Radiology Services at AVMC. "Adding the CAD system, the new Mammography Equipment and now the MammoPad will all aid us in accomplishing both goals." Research shows that id percent of all women oves the age of 40 are not gettine, their annual mammograms. Brent Brown Chrysler Jeep Dodge, Brent Brown Toyota and Brent Brown Chevrolet plans to hold a one-day sales event on Saturday, October 28, 2006, at 1995 University Parkway, 2 blocks west of La Veil Edwards Stadium. Sta-dium. Brown stated that, due to current economic conditions and the effect it has had on sales, they find the dealerships dealer-ships critically overstocked with used vehicle trade-ins. "Quite frankly, we've never seen anything like these last few months. We're in a position where we have to liquidate liqui-date these vehicles in a hurry to bring our inventories back in line." Brown continues, "We're going to hold this unusual $99 sales event, where every used vehicle will be drastically drasti-cally reduced, some at only $99! To move these vehicles, we will be pricing used cars that could sell for six to nine thousand dollars at the four to six thousand dollar range." This event promises to be exciting. "If you've never seen this type of disposal before, make sure you arrive early," says Brown. To simplify the sale, we'll pre-mark every used vehicle. The sale lot at 1995 University Parkway in Provo will open for preview at 9:30 a.m. Saturday. All vehicles will be open for inspection at that time. At precisely 10 a.m. the slasher will begin slashing prices to the lowest possible price. Whoever is sitting behind be-hind the wheel of any used vehicle will be given fust opportunity op-portunity to purchase the vehicle at the posted salt- price in the windshield. No haggle, no hassles. Used car buyers will be available to bid on trade-ins during the sale hours of 10 a.m. till 7 p.m. Lenders will be there to arrange low-cost financing for virtually every level of credit history Brown states, "Please be advised this is a one day sales event. Because of the size of discounts being nlfeied. when our inventories have been reduced to the desired level, the sales tags will be removed and all vehicles will return to their normal pricing." "This inventory situation has been very difficult on us, but it will certainly be an opportunity for the consumers consum-ers who participate. We'd rather give our local customers the chance to purchase these vehicles than send them to the auctions in Salt Lake," says Brown Questions regarding this sale can be directed to (801 ) 224-1320.
