By Virginia Harrington Express Writer The Vernal City Council has selected Micheal C Davis of Roosevelt as the new financial director for the city. Davis will assume his new position April 1. He said he is looking forward to working with Harley Hills for a month before Hills retires after years of working as Vernal's financial finan-cial director. Davis also said he is pleased to have the opportunity opportu-nity to work with Vernal City Manager Ken Bassett. This is a return to Vernal for Davis, who worked for Drollinger, Judd and Associates for two years prior to accepting a position with the Uintah Basin Association of Governments (UBAOG) in Roosevelt. Davis, who is cur rently working for Roosevelt City, said he looks forward to working in a bigger place with a bigger budget. He anticipates new and. interesting experiences. experi-ences. Davis grew up in Ioka and graduated from Union High School in 1987 and completed a mission for his church in Australia. He graduated from Utah Valley State College with an associates degree and went on to Utah State University (USU) for his bachelor's in accounting. He earned a master's mas-ter's in public administration from USU in May, 2004. Davis and his wife, Kelli, have three children: Carson, 8; Kobe, 6; and Lauren, 3. They plan to move from Roosevelt to Vernal in the summer, after the children have finished the school year. Clifton 6. Crum Rustin R. Ivie i - Motion picture incentiea slashed in Senate " - : Derek J. Pettey House Bill (HB) 17 passed both branches of the Utah Legislature and was enrolled for the signature of Gov. Jon Huntsman March 7. However, the amount of the incentives was drastically reduced in the Senate. The bill was part of the recommendations rec-ommendations made by the Governor's Rural Partnership Board as a means to bring economic eco-nomic growth to rural areas of the state. The scenic beauty of Utah draws some movie production pro-duction to the state, but economic eco-nomic incentives would likely increase the number of movies made in Utah. Originally, the bill allowed for an economic incentive of several million dollars per year. The Senate cut that to $500,000 per year with an appropriation of $1 million in fiscal year 2006. No funding was appropriated beyond next fiscal year.
