The Vernal Elks Jr. Golf Skill Shoot Out was held at the Dinaland Golf Course. Skills for golfers 12 and under included. Long Drive, 10 yard shot, 50 yard shot , 20 yard Chip, 20 foot putt and 8-foot putt. Skills for golfers golf-ers 13 through 17 included. Long Driver, 150 yard shot, 75 yard shot, 30 yard chip, 30 foot putt and 10 foot putt. Each contestant was given three shots at each of the six skills with the best of the three counting for a score of between two and ten points. Ties were determined with a chip off. Fifty junior golfers competed with parents, grandparents, friends and fellow competitors cheering them on. Winners were: 10 and under Girls, first Kathie Henderson, second Emily Stratton and third Madison Law. 10 and under Boys, first Mark Stratton (won chip off), second Emilio Mascarenas, third William Woodward (won chip off) and fourth, Parker Morton. 11 and 12 Girls, first Kajlee Ann Woodward, second. Majerle Mojado and third Taylor Fletcher. Boys II and 12, first Stratton Schulz, second, Ty ler Johnson and third Kevin Stratton. Girls 13 and 14, first Natalie Nebeker and second Macy Young. Boys 13 and 14, first Blake Rollins, (won chip off) second Mcl xvne Lldredue, third Chase Rollins. Girls 15 through 17, first Kaylee Massey. Boys 15 through 17, first Reggie Rhodes, second Jeremiah Lamb (won chip off), third Taylor Sorensen. The junior golfers and spectators specta-tors enjoyed the event, so plans are already in the w orks for next year with the shootout being in May with the first place winners advancing advanc-ing to a state shoot out in June. The event was made possible due to the efforts of Kent McCurdy and staff at Dinaland, volunteers and parents. Competition in the women's class was fierce with more participating racers than usual. These two racers battled for 1st and 2nd place, passing each other several times during the race IV- 1K Future motocross champions roll over the whoops in the Pee Wee 4-6 class V 1 Ban Hardman flies over a jump in the Over 25 Junior class.
