The first Emergency Room patient and the first Out-Patient surgery patient were the recipients of a gift basket. Claudine Winn of Lapoint, was the first ER patient in the new area. "It's just beautiful," stated Mrs. Winn. "I hope I don't need an Emergency Room again in the near future, but if I do, I will definitely come to Ashley Valley Medical Center." Vadrus Wall of Vernal was the first Same-Day Surgery patient to use the new facilities. "It's just really nice," said Mrs. Wall, "I worked at Ashley Valley Medical Center about 15 years ago, and it's great to see all the positive growth and changes since then." "We are very pleased with our new home," said Si Hutt, Chief Executive Officer at Ashley Valley Medical Center. "The design and quality of our ER, ICU, and surgical services is truly first class better than you will find in most big city hospitals. With improved access to local physicians, a local hospital accredited by the JCAHO and recognized rec-ognized as a top-100 hospital in the U.S., and an incredible new facility just a few minutes from home, there is no reason to leave Vernal for most hospital services." Besides opening the new facility, AVMC has also moved their business busi-ness office across the street into the same building that houses administration admin-istration and physical therapy. The business office move was made to allow the beginning of Phase 2 of the expansion, slated to start the first part of August. In Phase 2, radiology radi-ology will be expanded to include the old ER area and the business office. The obstetrics area will also be renovated and expanded. Phase 2 of the renovation is expected to take 10 months to complete. Dr. White has also moved his office into the Medical Office building on the northeast comer of the hospital. He is in the office next to DinosaurLand Pediatrics, Dr. Young and Dr. Hansen. Phase II should be completed in approximately 10 months at which time the public will have the opportunity oppor-tunity to view the newly renovated areas. "I hope people wil be pftteni, with all the moving around anpihe construction con-struction that will continue for the next several months," said Hutt. "It will be a little confusing at first, but the result for patients, physicians, and staff will be well worth the wait."
