First attendants were Jesse Durrant and Rachel McPhee; second attendants were Chad Zufelt and Whitney Walton. The Jordan World Circus, produced pro-duced by JtxJy Jordan, will perform in Vemal on May 1 1 at 6:30 p.m. at the Western Park. The event is sponsored by the Vernal Rotary Club and promises circus stars, daredevils and thrilling acrobats and will feature talented elephants and a specialty act featuring rhesus monkeys. The 8,000 pound Asian elephants featured at the circus were born in the wild and have been trained since they were about 3 years old. Their average age is about 40 years old. They are highly intelligent and learn quickly, but they have to go through a muscle building program. Much like an athlete or weight lifter, an elephant must learn and develop proper muscles needed to do a certain cer-tain trick. For example, intelligence wise, an elephant could learn how to stand on its hind legs in a week, but it would take one to two months to learn how to do it safely. Smaller animals will also be showcased at the circus. Davide Zoppe's Rhesus Monkey Revue will be featured at the performance on Tuesday. The act is a fast-paced comedy show displaying some -4 "to Kayton Carmickle he elephants are just one of the acts that will be featured at the Jordan World Circus. 0 APR Am $1000 to. Consisting of seven rhesus monkeys, the Zoppe family fam-ily is the only one known to ever attempt an entire act of this nature. The act also features a black Celebes Cele-bes ape. The primates are originally from Africa and from India, where they are protected by a religious order and run wild throughout the cities. cit-ies. The rhesus monkeys enjoy the ability to create, therefore, adding to an act that lets their natural mischievous mis-chievous behavior come through. They have an uncanny sense of comic abilities and, along with Zoppe, keep the audience in stitches throughout the routine. Because the simian is so intelligent intelli-gent and naturally aggressive, years co into the development and studv of their native behavior. Once they have completed their learning process, pro-cess, they become comfortable with the rest of the group of primates that they will socialize with in the act. They also become content to display their newfound knowledge and ability to create their own individual indi-vidual part in this never-before seen demonstration of comedy and intelligence. intel-ligence. The Celebes ape resembles a gorilla in miniature size, and could contain the strength of two or three people. One of the major goals was to mix the ape in amongst the rhesus, rhe-sus, as both species have tendencies to become the leaders. The Zoppes have attempted the goal successfully successful-ly and the beauty of the camaraderie shines during each performance. fCAO AAA.
