Following are assorted money saving sav-ing tips that they share. Grocery: Clip coupons on items that you use. Check unit prices and bring a calculator to the store. Buying bulk can be cheaper, but not always. Sometimes smaller sizes are cheaper. cheap-er. Take a list and stick to it. Avoid impulse buying. Read new spapers for sale ads. Buy extra of the items on sale for food storage. Plan menus before shopping. Cook more with grains, fruits and vegetables to lower meat costs. Try no-name brands. They are cheaper. Credit cards: Never charge something on a card that you can't pay off that month, before interest charges. Never buy credit card insurance coverage. Use only cards without annual fees. Check for lowest interest rates. Beech elected state DECA Prsident Cameron Beech, Uintah High School junior, has been elected to be the new Utah State DECA president at the group's March 9-10 State Conference held in Ogden. Currently, the Uintah DECA president presi-dent and the Junior Class vice president, presi-dent, Beech says it look much dedication dedi-cation and hard work to run for the state DECA office. "I ran because I wanted to make a difference in Utah DECA in its entirety and not just the Southern Region," lie said. Beech ran against three other candidates, can-didates, each from a large school on the Wasatch Front. He mounted a two-ilay campaign which required him to have a booth with personal information. He also gave away bottled bot-tled water, candy, business cards, stickers, bouncy balls and sticky hands at the booth. In addition to his booth, he made a personal attempt to talk to each member of the Utah DECA who had come to the state convention. lie considers the most ""well-received ""well-received part of his election session speech before voting delegates from each chapter was. Avoid clothing requiring dry cleaning. Melvin and Doriene Weeks Weeks to celebrate 50th anniversary March 20 Melvin and Doriene Weeks will celebrate . their 50lh wedding anniversary on March 20. The Weeks were wed March 20, 1954, in St. George. The Weeks met while Doriene was working at Bryce Canyon during the summer and Melvin was working for Chevron. Melvin is a retired Chevron employee, and during their marriage, mar-riage, the Weeks have lived in Missouri, Salt Lake City, Montana. Wyoming, Colorado, Texas and Washington. Their three children are Vickie (Dan) Olsen, Orem: Kathie (David) Jessup, Altamont; and Tami (Marcus) Peterson, Las Vegas, Nev. While living in Salt Lake City, Doriene worked with the ZCMI Department store in sales. Molina completes Navy Seaman Apprentice Robert J. Molina, son of Mary L. Molina of Vernal and Bobby Molina of Cartwright, Okla., recently completed com-pleted U.S. Navy basic training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes. III. During the eight-week program, Molina completed a variety of training which included classroom study and practical instruction on naval customs, first aid, fire fighting, fight-ing, water safety and survival, and shipboard and aircraft safety. Tiffiny Barnes f n i i 1 m Melvin grew up in Vernal, is a 1949 graduate of Uintah High School, and is the son of the late Alvin and Elizabeth Week. The Weeks enjoy traveling, restoring old cars and furniture and spending time with friends and family. Melvin and Doriene have served two missions for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, and are anticipating a third. They have served in the Washington Seattle Mission and the Russia Moscow Mission, and will serve a historical mission in St. George. They have 18 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Due to previous family commitments, commit-ments, the Weeks family will hold a celebration of the anniversary in May. Navy basic physical fitness. Bostock Family to perform concert The Bostock Family, consisting of Greg and Glenda Bostock and their daughters Rachael. Michelle and Anna, will be in concert at World Vision Assembly of God Sunday. DERMATOLOGIST Appointments Available In Vernal April 1 C Call Toil-Free DAV Auxiliary sponsors fund raiser Basin No. 10 Disabled American Veterans (DAV) Auxiliary recently sponsored a fund raiser to raise money to continue their services to disabled veterans of Vernal. Members sold fund raiser tickets for a denim quilt that was made and donated by Lavon Searle and raised over $200. The drawing was held at the DAV and DAV Auxiliary combined meeting at Golden Corral on Feb. 19, and Verlie McCarrel was the lucky winner. The DAV Auxiliary supports local disabled veterans by making gifts for and visiting those who are in the care center or who are home-bound. home-bound. Proceeds from the fund raiser will be used to continue the DAV Auxiliary's service. Barnes earns Young Womanhood Recognition Tiffiny Marie Barnes, daughter of Merritt and Ramona Barnes, received her Young Womanhood Recognition on Feb. 1.
