Show 'A Tracie Searle and Terry A. Harvey Searle and Harvey to marry in Salt Lake Temple Tracie Dawn Searle and Terry A. Harvey have chosen Friday, April 16 to be married in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They will be honored at a reception on Saturday, April 17 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Vernal, UtahUintah Stake Center, 4080 South 2500 East. They are the children chil-dren of Gene and Helen Searle of Vernal and Gene and Eileen Harvey ofTridell. Beaux Arts Club Members of Beaux Arts Club met last Wednesday at the home of Elaine Hall. President Ruth Johnson was excused due to a family emergency, emer-gency, therefore, June Stewart presided over the meeting. It was noted that member Trevelene Hall would be back from her mission the first part of May. Petra Jones introduced Jeff Warburton, a Dry Fork resident, who entertained members . with cowboy poetry, songs and stories. He delighted the group with his talent tal-ent and sense of humor. He is a saddle sad-dle maker by trade and developed his talent while he was attending college and working during the summers on a dude ranch in Jackson Hole. The next meeting will be May 5 at Helen Spendlove's home. Ladies of Elk The Ladies of Elk combined the installation of their new officers with the B.P.OJE. installation of officers of-ficers on April 3 and then enjoyed a steak and shrimp dinner, complete with all the trimmings, and dancing to the group "Massadona." The lovely silver and lavender decorations decora-tions completed the setting for a festive evening shared with friends and fellow members. The ladies received re-ceived corsages of silk flowers to keep and remember the evening. The 1993-1994 Ladies of Elk officers offi-cers installed were: Joyce Johnson, president; Carmen Workman, secretary; secre-tary; Alta Earley, historian; Marie Yoder, auditor; Mary Alice Watkins, chaplain; Carmen Workman, board member; Myrna Cobbs, state board member; Donna Workman, calling committee; Joye Horrocks, program chairman; Lou Harrison, vice president Etta Martinsen, treasurer; Lanny Kerlin, reporter; Varie Voyles, parliamentarian; parliamen-tarian; Darlene Bowden, board member, Judy Kurtz, board member; mem-ber; Carmen Workmen, project chairman; and Gail Vickery, calling committee. Outgoing president, Judy Kurtz, urged the ladies to continue with their strong efforts on behalf of Camp Wapiti, a Utah State project for camping experiences for the medically challenged children and their families, which is being built by the B.P.O.E. Merrell and Sons. Terry is also a graduate of Uintah High School with the class of 1990. He is employed by Jones Paint and Glass in Vernal. Following their wedding, the couple cou-ple will make Vernal their home. Gamma Beta Members of Gamma Beta sorority met at the home of Donna Myers on Tuesday, April 6. Patti Griffin served as co-hostess with seven members present The program was given by Lori Gardner on the subject of AIDS. Secret Sisters exchanged Easter gifts and the door prize was won by Melinda Rollins. The next meeting will be Monday, April 19 at the home of Patti Griffin. Current Topics Club Members of the Current Topics Club met last Wednesday at the home of Velma Erekson with Sharol Thomson as co-hostess. General business was discussed and Maxine Miller presented the current topic on"HerbErma." A program was presented by Trooper Keith Squires of the Utah Highway Patrol on the DARE program pro-gram currently being taught in Uintah schools. Ilene McLean followed fol-lowed up on the enhanced "911" program. The next meeting will be at the home of Sandy Morrow. Progressive Arts Delores Lopez entertained club members and guests with humorous readings and a demonstration of Spanish cooking. She also shared her recipes. The hostesses for the day were Lois Erickson and Leah Hamson. Oil painting videos and art books by the popular television personality personali-ty Helen Van Wyk will be donated to the Uintah County Library by the club. They will be honored at a reception that evening from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the chapel, 2575 North 1500 West, in Vernal. Misty is the daughter of Milton and Diana Billings of Vernal. She graduated from Uintah High School in 1992 and is currently working as a nanny for a Salt Lake City family. Artist in Residence visits Uintah Learning Center On March 19, an open house was held at the Uintah Learning Center to celebrate a marvelous two weeks of fun and activity with artist David Sucec. Sucec, a visual artist, provided provid-ed an exciting two weeks for both students and staff. Each student made either a face or hand mask. They used their own face or hand as the mold and covered cov-ered it with plaster casting. This required re-quired a great deal of bravery from students as their face, eyes and mouth were completely covered. Only a nose hole was left for air. Each student had to hold very still for about 15-minutes while the casting cast-ing dried. Sucec lives in Salt Lake City where he teaches classes and enjoys creating all facets of visual art, specializing spe-cializing in drawing, painting, and collage. Pre-historic art is a real interest in-terest of his and he surprised the staff by the depth of his knowledge about Uintah Basin petroglyphs. He and photographer, Craig Law, cur Troy is the son of James and Linda Angeli of Salt Lake City. He is a graduate of Cottonwood High School and attended Dixie College in St. George and the Salt Lake Community College. Troy is employed em-ployed with Delta Airlines and the Eagle Company in Salt Lake City as a sales representative. Following their honeymoon in Hawaii, the newlyweds will make their home in Salt Lake City. They will also be honored at a reception re-ception hosted by the groom's parents par-ents on Saturday, May 1 at the Applegate Clubhouse in Murray. ,0 lZJI ;"''y fi,. rently have a display at the Uintah County Library. Sucec received an MA in Art from San Francisco State University and teaches for the Youth Art Academy. He was also the recipient of a Utah Humanities Research Fellowship in 1991, for Utah's First Expressionist Painters, the first study of Utah rock art as an art. He also has an unusual ability in working with disabled students and facilitating an artistic experience that maximizes their potential. Every Learning Center student successfully suc-cessfully completed their project and paraded their masks for their parents with great pride. According to Susan Pease, principal at the Learning Center, by the time each child had been to see Sucec twice, he knew all their names and had made friends with each one. She said he left the Learning Center students stu-dents with a beautiful, positive experience ex-perience with the staff with new skills to enrich the arts curriculum. Look who's Fifty! ttappy (Birthday B.B.I With Love Becca Donaldson and Robert Gordon Donaldson and Gordon to marry in Manti Temple Becca Donaldson will become the bride of Robert Gordon in a wedding wed-ding ceremony on Saturday, April 17 in the Manti LDS Temple. They will be honored at a private luncheon lun-cheon in Helper immediately following fol-lowing the wedding. Becca is the daughter of Walt and Claudia Donaldson of Vernal. She is a 1991 graduate of Uintah High School and a student at Utah State University in Logan majoring in journalism. She worked as a writer under an internship for the Vernal Express while attending high school. Robert is the son of Ray and Lela Gordon of Kayenta, Ariz. He is a Golden Age News Social Security rep to visit next week by Ada Murray A Social Security representative will visit at the National Guard Armory from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 21. Anyone with questions or problems about their Social Security benefits should plan to see the representative. Love and best wishes are sent to those who have lost a loved one and to all that are ill, whether they maybe may-be in the hospital or at home. Loma Holmes was the first place winner at bingo last Tuesday, winning win-ning five games. Mollie Stockton and Jean Staten won three games each to take second place. Bingo is played 'on both Tuesdays and Fridays at 1 p.m. The Easter dance held last Friday night was a huge success.
