Show The Park Record Wed/Thurs/Fri, April 29-May 1, 2015 Continued From C-3 Benefit will be held at Riverhorse • A $500 wine basket • Warburton photography session • Lunch at Stein Eriksen Lodge • Birthday party for 20 kids at Swaner EcoCenter and Nature Preserve "Also, people who bring a box of disposable diapers will be entered into an opportunity drawing that will feature a $250 gift certificate for Prime Steakhouse," Buist said. "So there are a lot of things that people can win." Tickets for the event are $50. "I wanted to keep it to a price so the average parent could afford to come to this event," Buist explained. "Hopefully, that will free them up to be more generous with the auction or the wine pull." The reason why Dry Baby Bums asks for disposable diapers is because day care centers won't accept babies and toddlers in cloth diapers, according to Buist. So, events such as Sunday's masquerade party are a fun way for Dry Baby Bums to raise awareness and provide diapers to families in need. "We had more than 300 people attend our last event we hosted [in December at Black Diamond Gymnastics]," Buist said. "We brought in 10,000 diapers for the Christian Center of Park City and also sponsored 20 children at the center who needed snow suits. "We have now joined forces with the People's Health Clinic, in addition to the Christian Center of Park City and Peace House," she said. "There are three organizations that serve the community who all need diapers. And it seems the more people hear about us, the more they want to get involved." A few weeks ago, Dry Baby Bums were accepted into the National Diaper Bank Network, a nonprofit organization whose mission is to "raise awareness Continued From C-4 Dinner will be held at St. Luke's said. "It seemed, at least in my mind, that this event fits better in May because it benefits those mothers who need to take advantage of Peace House services." RSVPs aren't necessary, but helpful, he said. "That way I can tell if I'm cooking for 100 people or 200 people," Van de Bosch said with a laugh. "I will try to go as big as I can and cook as much as we can muster." Still, the cook has recruited some volunteer help. "There are many people from St. Luke's and in the community who have given their time and talents to help present the event," he said. "I also have kids from the Park City School District who need some service hours who are helping me set up tables and other things. And of diaper need, strengthen community-based diaper banks, and generate donations of dollars and diapers, so that all babies remain clean, dry and healthy." "That means we can now get diapers at cost and purchase more for the money," Buist said. Another development is that Dry Baby Bums is going to be known nationally. "Women's Day magazine is writing an article about us for its June issue," she said. "This will bring a whole new awareness, so hopefully someone else in another part of the country will want to help us and things will snowball into something bigger." Dry Baby Bums, a nonprofit dedicated to providing disposable diapers, wipes and diaper cream to local shelters, will host a masquerade fundrdaiser at the Riverhorse on Main, 540 Main St., on Sunday, May 3, from 6 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. All proceeds will buy diapers for the Christian Center, the People's Health Clinic and Peace House. Tickets and masks can be purchased by calling 949616-5051 or by visiting www.drybabybums.org. then I've got volunteer helpers who have attended in years past who will help with the full entrée and the sides." Van der Bosch also had some help from Deer Valley Resort and Smith's. "Deer Valley Resort has made a generous donation to help this event as well as Smith's Food," he said.
