GRAYSON WEST/'PARKRECORD Parents, faculty, and students of Little Miners Montessori break ground for a new school building on Wednesday afternoon. Montessori breab ground for bigger building By JARED WHITLEY Of the Record staff Little Miners is about to get <i whole lot bigger. 'Hie Montessori school - currently located in the Creekside Fellowship Church in Kimhall Junction hroke ground Wednesday for a new building in Silver Creek. Construction started llnirsday. "We just wanted our own space." said Suzanne "SucB" Britnell. owner and director of Little Miners. "We've grown out of the (current) space, and the playground can't hold the amount of children we have." Little Miners currently has a student body of IS. 'Hie new building will accommodate up to about 12? and it looks like Little Miners will need the extra space. 'Iliero are more than 165 families on the school's waiting list, according to Kim Deimling. the schools administrative director. "We are very excited to see this grow," said Deimling, whose daughter, Anna, 5, is a Little Miner. The new school will have a square footage of 6,000 on a two and onehalf acre plot of land. FRESH PRINTS The following are letters to the editor from Ecker //ill Middle School siiuli 'Jits. Sundance headache Editor; I totally disagree with the article that slates that locals like Sundance. I work at a T-shirt shop and we hate Sundance because they don't buy shirts, they complain about the snowy weather, and expect lo be treated like royalty. .And when they are behind the wheel they think its just them on the road. Sundance is like a place where average 'people make movies and think they are superstars. The festival is good; it s the people that suck. Unless the situation changes there are going to be a lot of unhappy locals that resent the entire thing all together. It makes the last week and a half of January the longest of the year. Locally it is now known as "Pain-in-lhc-ButtDance." It wouldn't be so bad if the people were just a little more considerate to the locals and the way they behave during the festival. I am just glad it comes once a year. any other high school sport. It is unfair for the paper to- write lengthy articles about sports like football and basketball and then not include an article about Ihe • swim learn, i know that there are a lot of people that would like lo support the swim team but are unable to attend the meets -- me being one of them. Without an article about swimming in the paper, it is impossible for people to do so. I hope next year there will be more articles about the Park Cily High School swim team in the paper. .. .. : skcllypc@aol.com Dornbush NOW SHOWING What is the point of making the add-on at Ecker Hill Middle School? I go to Ecker Hill Middle School where they are making the new add-on. The weird thing is the add-on is as big as an entirely new school. Why can they spend $10 million on a new school, bul they can't spend some money gelling all of the drinking fountains working or stopping the toilets from overflowing?I think the schools need to spend their money more wisely. At Ecker Hill they are putting a stream around the school. Why is it that we can have a stream around the school bul have a broken boiler for a month? 'Hie reason I a'm sending this to the paper is because I think it would be nice to gel the parents involved. Our schools need to be thriftier with our parents' lax money. Please see Fresh Prints, B-12 Craig Reece, CRS Selling your home for maximum market value is a process that will require your full participation as homeowner. You cannot simply list the property and wait for your realtor to produce results. You must stop back and begin to sec your home as others will see it - a marketable product that should be promoted as objectively and artfully as a department store display. The most successful professional stagers work cooperatively with the homeowner to achieve the look of a model home. Preparing a home to make a favorable impression on the majority of buyers requires an artful eye and knowledge of the elements of universal or mass appeal. For example, home staging professionals understand that neutral wall tints are more widely acceptable than bright colors. They' know that excessive clutter decreases the home's perceived value, and that removing selected pieces of furniture can make a room look larger. They are aware of the psycho logical effects of the balanced, correct placement of each functional element within the home. A polished sales presentation will net a greater profit. Home staging is a valuable tool for selling your home at the best price. For rock solid advice on buying'or selling real estate, call Craig Reece at 435-647-8017 or toll free at 1-800-553-4666.
