Show Gymnasts begin new season j USA Gymnastics World hosted a Level 8 and 9 gymnastics meet Saturday, Jan. 28, at its gym in Woods i Cross. Coaches Ned Lang and Shari Kwiatkowski said they i were proud of the teams and look forward to a successful suc-cessful season. I The results from Level 9 competition were Jessica Young, first in all-around with a total score of 35.10. She received first on floor, second on vault and balance beam and third on uneven bars. i Rebecca Dunkley came in a close second with 35.05. ' She received first on vault, balance beam and uneven bars and fourth on floor. Gina Gibbs placed third in all-around all-around with 33.60. She received second on floor, third on vault, and balance beam and fourth on uneven bars. Stephanie Matsumura placed fourth on all-around I and balance beam, second on uneven bars. Stephanie and Brooke Palmer tied fourth on vault, and Brooke also received third on floor. In Level 8 competition, age 15 and above, Sarah Lar- t rabee placed first on uneven bars and second on vault and balance beam. Kris ten Christ ensen placed second on floor exercise and third on vault, uneven bars and balance beam. JanaTidwell, in the 12 to 14-year-old division, placed plac-ed fourth in all-around, balance beam and uneven bars and sixth on vault. In the 9 to 11-year-old competition Chelsa Bastian took second place in all-around, with first in floor exercise, exer-cise, second in vault and balance beam and fourth in uneven bars. Sara Hames came in third in all-around, balance beam and uneven bars, fourth in floor exercise and sixth on vault. Kelcy Wathen placed fourth in all-around, first on uneven bars, second on floor exercise, third on vault and sixth on balance beam. In two weeks USA Gymnastics World is hopeful for more successes at a meet hosted by Rocky Mountain of Salt Lake City. They will also compete in San Jose, Calif, and Las Vegas, Nev. in February and BYU in March. |
